With the final update to the 247Sports rankings, a number of LSU commitments received a big bump in their ratings, helping the Tigers to leap up to the No. 4 class, and no. 7 in the 247Composite.
Tre'Davious White is LSU's lone five-star commitment for 2013
Here's a rundown of the newest rankings:
***** With 26 commitments for the 2013 class, LSU has moved up to the No. 4 overall spot in the 247Sports team rankings. The Tigers were previously ranked No. 8 in the team rankings.
***** Shreveport athlete Tre'Davious White was awarded a fifth star, the lone LSU commitment for the 2013 class ranked as a five-star prospect by 247.
***** Breakdown: LSU has 1 5-star, 18 4-stars and 7 3-stars. The average rank for the class is 91.42, and the total number of points has climbed to 760.92.
***** LSU now has five commitments ranked in the Top 100: CB Tre'Davious White (No. 9), DT Greg Gilmore (No. 59), OLB Kendell Beckwith (No. 68), OT Ethan Pocic (No. 72) and DE Frank Herron (No. 75)
***** 15 of LSU's 26 commitments are currently ranked in the Top247, one of the largest numbers in the country.
***** LSU is ranked third in the SEC in the team rankings, trailing only Alabama (No. 1) and Florida (No. 2). Notre Dame is currently the third-ranked team on 247Sports.

I don't watch these players in games or the film of them for hours on end...so I have no basis for individual opinion on these guys, and for me the rankings are more of a reinforcement of what I already believe...that LSU, year in and year out, does a great job of recruiting talented players.
The future looks bright with this class and a follow up in 2014 where we have a great shot at another top 5 class.
