Next names up in 2013

Excited to see what Hunter can do this spring... Hopefully the young d line can catch on and continue for years. I'm not worried (and never will be as long as Chavis is here) about LB

If you don't include any incoming freshmen, you would have DE's Jordan Allen and Justin Maclin and DT's Quentin Thomas and Mickey Johnson. And that's it.

You almost have to think that some freshmen are going to come in and push for a spot in the two-deep. Christian LaCouture is the only DL enrolling early, too. So everyone else will have to hold of their push until May when the 2013 signees arrive to campus.

That's why I'm a bit surprised the staff didn't go after a JUCO guy who could play inside or DE in a pinch.
I like Maclin and Allen but in addition to not having meaningful snaps both have been bit by injuries.
There seemed to be an all out effort to get a JUCO WR even with the entire depth chart returning at that position, curious that losing 6 of the top 10 DL and we don't seek a JUCo infusion?

Should be a very interesting spring to follow regarding all of these players development, etc. Looking forward to the reports !

The bulk of the great 2011 team is leaving and that means we can start building with guys who have a fresh outlook. With the exodus of three year players beginning to be the norm, we need to keep the young talent coming in and playing. Next year, I look for Johnson, Ego, Barrow, Martin, and Blue to all be gone, and that's just the start. Thanks, Shea for a great article.
