LaCouture said he doesn't mind which position he plays at LSU

What position will LSU commitment Christian LaCouture play when he arrives in Baton Rouge? Geaux247 caught up with the four-star defensive lineman for the latest.

I agree that he ends up inside too. Gaining weight hasn't been an issue for him and it's going to really accelerate when Tommy Moffitt gets a hold of him.

Returning DTs:
With no Bennie Logan..
Anthony Johnson - Jr.
Ego Ferguson - Jr. (RS)
Quentin Thomas - So. (RS)
Mickey Johnson - So. (RS)
Without the impact of any true freshmen, that would be the two-deep.
Then you add Greg Gilmore and Tevin Lawson from the 2013 class, with Gilmore figuring to be the instant-impact guy from those two.
I think you almost have to add LaCouture to the DT list, though the DE depth isn't that much more impressive..
And I think if Bain gets on board, they give a stronger look to keeping LaCouture on the outside. I just don't know if his weight will be able to work on the edge. May be destined to be a tackle.

I think kind of the opposite. I see him a SDE all the way. He's 6'6" already and at 275 pounds that moves pretty well for that size. I see him more as a Lavar Edwards type DE than could split time at DT in situation but it mainly going to be a pass rusher on the outside.
Not sure hes going to have the leverage that say a Brockers had because I think LaCouture best moves are spins and swims. Im not sure CL has the bull rush push that Brockers had with his strength.

I think he's perfect for chavis's system. He seems to want controlled rush in the middle, able to control running lanes, and getting hands up on the quick passes....He's long enough to cover those lanes, and get his hands up, from what I see....Just needs some Moffitization, and he'll be fine IMO.

I really like him at either position, especially since we have needs at both spots. If he grows much bigger, I would see him contributing first at DT, but also, as someone mentioned, he can be that Lavar Edwards DE that is big, strong, and can rush the passer. On a side note, I thought Lavar was as impressive a SR player as we had on the team; he really showed up and played solidly.

Agree with that. He's definitely played himself into having a chance to make an NFL roster as a free agent.
