LSU is the away team in this game due to NCAA Regional rules.
TOP 1ST INNING
Sean McMullen leads off with an infield single, and is thrown out at second on a failed sacrifice bunt attempt by Jared Foster, who is safe at first. Alex Bregman hits a ball that appears to be a home run, but the umps only allow him a double.
Raph Rhymes is walked to load the bases with two down. Christian Ibarra draws a walk and Bregman trots across the plate.
LSU 1, SHSU 0
To clarify what happened with the Bregman home run/double, the ball appeared to have hit off either the top of the fence or the batting practice screen just over the fence and bounced back into the field. The umpires originally ruled the ball in fair play and met to discuss what happened but nothing was overturned.

Nola in trouble. Getting no help as Ibarra commits two errors and Bregman with one. Nola has thrown over 40 pitches as Sam Houston leads 5-1 after one complete.

BOTTOM 1ST INNING
The leadoff batter reaches on a throwing error by Ibarra, that pulled Mason Katz's foot off the bag. The leadoff batter moves to third and is driven home on a ball hit to Bregman at short who fumbles the transition from glove to hand and the runner is safe at first. The next batter doubles into the gap in left-center.
The Bearcats score another run off a sac fly in foul territory, that Raph Rhymes made a good sliding catch and a good throw that just didn't have enough juice on it to get the runner out at first. The next batter hits a ball right at Ibarra who allows the ball to go right through his wickets and another run crosses the plate.
Another double down the third baseline and a single to right give SHSU two more runs. Andrew Stevenson made a highlight reel catch to end the inning, which could have resulted in at least one more run.
LSU 1, SHSU 5
Game Note: All five runs are unearned.
TOP 2ND INNING
Ty Ross leads off with a single up the middle after working the count full, and Stevenson draws a full count walk. A McMullen single loads the bases with no outs. Jared Foster hits into a fielder's choice at short, and Ross is able to score on the play. Bregman hits an RBI bloop single into right to drive in Stevenson.
LSU 3, SHSU 5

BOTTOM 2ND INNING
Aaron Nola strikes out one in a 1-2-3 inning
Was anyone else yelling "got it!" when Bregman went out to left to catch that? Whew!
Has Nola's arm slot dropped, or has he always come that far from the side?
Bregman and Rhymes had me nervous again!! Great range and throw by Jacoby on that 3rd out.
TOP THIRD INNING
JaCoby Jones draws a walk with one out, and Ross reaches safely on a booted ground ball by the shortstop. Stevenson places a perfect bunt and flies down the baseline for a base hit to load the bases. McMullen grounds out to second, but Jones is able to score from third.
LSU 4, SHSU 5
BOTTOM THIRD INNING
Nola gives up a leadoff double, and then strikes out the next three batters to end the inning with no damage.
TOP 4TH INNING
The heart of LSU's lineup, Bregman, Katz and Rhymes, goes down in order.
BOTTOM 4TH INNING
Nola walks one with two outs. The next batter flies out to center.
TOP 5TH INNING
Ty Ross reaches on a throwing error by the third baseman, that bounces off a camera behind first, and Ross is awarded second. Stevesnon draws a walk to put runners on first and second with two outs for pinch hitter, Tyler Moore. Moore goes down on strikes.
BOTTOM 5TH INNING
Nola allows a leadoff single, and Bregman makes his second error on the night to put runners on first and second with one out. After a fly out to center, Nola walks a batter to load the bases. The next batter grounds out to Bregman to end the threat.
Drew, thank you for the coverage.
Let's hope the Tigers and win this one.
We're not that good. No Omaha this year.
TOP 6TH INNING
Katz and Rhymes hit back-to-back singles with two outs. Ibarra hits a ball to the third baseman, who fields the ball and hustles to third to get Katz out on another questionable call. Katz looked pretty safe if you ask me.

BOTTOM 6TH INNING
Nola gives up a single with one out and commits an error himself on a pickoff to first. The runner moves all the way to third. With two down Ibarra makes a good play at third to end the inning.
TOP 7TH INNING
With one out Ross takes a pitch to the hip and strolls down to first, but the Tigers leave him stranded.
BOTTOM 7TH INNING
Nola strikes out one as he gets the Bearcats to go three up three down.
Way to Geaux Tigers you follow the epic fail of last year with maybe another epic fail if this score holds.
