Hey guys, non football related and this is my first ever post with BOL in 6+ years being a member. Im travelling from Baltimore and asking for a little help with what are your best places to eat and what would you recommend to see while im in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Ive never been to a game at Tiger Stadium and with it supposedly being one of the toughest places to play im excited to experience it.
Go to Chimes on Saturday for brunch after Gameday. Get the boudin balls and blackened alligator appetizers. Try to make friends with some cool LSU fans while there and let them hit you up with a good tailgate spot.
As far as great places to eat in New Orleans there are way too many to list. Go to Nola.com and search restaurant ratings based off what area you are staying in and what type of food your looking for (seafood, French, etc.). Just don't act like a typical Alabama fan and you'll be treated very well :-)
Sounds great buddy. Thanks so much. Ive never had gator. I will try it.
I am not sure what you mean by typical bama fan. If u mean something negative, well i think it comes with any fanbase. I however dont argue or talk trash. I find it annoying. I treat others as i would like to be treated. Which is why i have never posted until now. When i found google to not be so handy when it usually has been, i decided to get lsu fans opinion since college game is why i am making my first trip west of the mississippi river. But thanks for the insight. Its most appreciative. Here yall gonna have some fantastic weather this wkend. Cant wait.
Give it a rest T1.....he came here in peace asking for information and wasn't talking trash. No sense in being disrespectful.

i recommend Staring Inn in BR if you are looking for a great place to stay, probably the best kept secret in the city
Yeah there is also another great little spot off of East Washington called the Dr. Leo S Butler Communnity Center. And if you are looking for some good eats around that spot hit up the Cheap-O-Mart on Louise. Best refrigerated ham and cheese in town.
"They're on our left, they're on our right, they're in front of us, they're behind us....They can't get away this time." Chesty Puller
GW Fins for dinner is a must when in New Orleans. It is at 808 Bienville St in the Quarter. Go to Mother's on Poydras for lunch. Get there early and for Gods sake know what you want when you get up there! They serve a tremendous amount of food each day so they do not pussy-foot around when it is time to order.
Expect to have Tiger Bait shouted at you. No disrespect intended with that. We will shout at you and hand you a cold beer all in the same breath.

Thanks thats some great info gentlemen. Ive price searched for hotels in Baton Rouge but nothing available. Yall know of something that might be decent priced no one knows about.... I checked the staring inn but couldnt find a room
LOL, you don't want to be anywhere near the Staring Inn...
That is significantly worse than staying off Skyland and McFarland in Tuscaloosa. Sociologically closer to the infamous Moon Winx Lodge way down University.

Try the Covington La area. Several new mid level hotels and only about 50 minutes from BR.
Last I checked on Hotels.com there were a couple of rooms at the Holiday Inn in Gonzales which isn't a far drive either.
In NOLA, I would also think about trying Deanie's. It's fried seafood but, IMO, some of the best fried seafood in Louisiana.
"You can learn more character on the two-yard line than anywhere else in life." - Former LSU Coach and AD Paul Dietzel
Crawfish Quartet at Deanie's. Hard to beat.
If you get tigerbaited, don't get offended. Just laugh and you will likely get a beer if they are nice. Honestly, though, after how Alabama treated me after the game, I have nothing nice to say to those folks so I won't open my mouth or my ice chest
you could stay wif my people? Dey like people like you and dey will treat you real special.

Im gonna try most of these restaurants for sure. And keep my fingers crissed i find a room somewhere decent and ill stay away from staring inn. Thank you all. GOD bless you brothers.
Can anybody tell me if Sullivan's Steahouse is still open in BR? We went there a few years back and it was excellent. I know it's a chain, but none in Bama.
