My ill informed thoughts on Beckwith. He commits to Bama. Has known for a while, but as is Saban's mantra when dealing with kids LSU really wants in la, has told him to hold off to avoid the backlash, show a lot of interest in LSU(so he can say, hey I did my research) and in the end get sold on the JACK LB prospect and commit to BAMA at the UA or near signing day.
Smells of a Collins saga part two without the girlfriend.
Just my .02.....tifwiw
Anything is possible in recruiting but I would be shocked if the Beckwith family handled it that way and I know Frank Wilson would too. Not saying him committing to Bama isn't possible.
Now, if he commits to Bama at Under Armour before taking an official visit and hasn't been to the schools since the Iron Bowl in 2011, I will come back and say you had this pegged and I need to do a better job of reading some kids:)
Totally understand your view on this Sonny......just a few things I have heard elsewhere. Nothing definitie by any means, but more of a gut feeling.
Numbers are so tight, we could use his momentum of the announcement and maybe get the dominos falling with his commit to us, but I go back to this........he has spent so much time and effort around LSU that he can't decide? HMMMMMM
Hope like heck I am reading this completely wrong......would not be the first time.
I think he feels like he knows what he wants to do but just wants to make certain with these visits. What I really can't understand, though, is why he would commit anywhere if he isn't able to take his official visit to Bama. And as of yesterday afternoon he still had not set that up with only two weekends remaining before the dead period kicks in.
And I know Bama will have Burton Burns at the Superdome this weekend so that may take this weekend out of the equation.
My Bama friend says their guys are not very confident in getting Beckwith; they think he's essentially a heavy LSU lean.
ALL SCHEDULES ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL
2013 BAMA GETS KY & TN; LSU GETS FL & GA. SEEMS FAIR (ROLLING EYES)
LSU = MOST SEC WINS SINCE 2010
Why do people continue to think that people hold off their commitment to decrease the backlash when it's the people the commit early that get the least amount of grief over their decision?
Staff feels like we will land him as of today.
my gut on the situation - Beckwith doesn't have a committable UA offer right now but wants to sign there.
Just my 2 cents and not based on any inside info. Would explain why he has gone to every LSU game possible this year but no UA games and why he is still undecided with no UA official visit on the horizon.
Hope you're wrong, because it would be great to sign him. He and Melvin would have the potential to put the LB position at LSU on a whole new level.
Its a little strange, I didn't think Bama was that high on him after he camped. Something about his ability to cover, if I remember. Don't know if that was cover, or if he's a silent. I think he is someone that can be a Jack-type, but may project better at 4-3 DE. I really don't know, but I'm sure Frank has a good feel after this W/E, one way or another.
The LSU staff has always felt good, especially in recent months. But if this is a situation like Collins where he's playing it to himself and stringing along the LSU staff, I'd be shocked. His mother wouldn't let that happen. And, unlike with Collins, I don't think Kendell is also stringing along his mother in addition to a coaching staff.

Because coaches have told me and others that this happens a LOT.
I am GLAD the info I have looks to be wrong per S,S/Gruss. Never said I didn't want him.
All I'm saying is that he's still very much entertaining LSU at this stage, and is likely still very interested in what his future could hold in BR.
I saw him outside a game this year and he was decked out in purple, even with the tobagon. When he gets inside and in front of fans and media, he has it off. I just don't see him stringing LSU along when he brought his mom and brother on 3-4 game weekends this fall.
I totally agree with the OP!
