not shocking but it's pretty obvious he's going to Bama.
I truly feel only reason he has been to all the LSU events is b/c Bama has slow played him this year. Now that he may be a take he will jump on offer.
2 seasons in a row we have lost maybe the top player in LA to Bama. This trend cannot continue - Fournette is a must get next year as is Robinson and maybe Hootie.
I think last year was a wake up call for the staff with L. Collins situation and Devall. I think Miles purposefully hired guys in Raymond and Henry who can recruit. Stud is not a great recruiter and Ensminger is dead weight in more ways than 1. Now what is the solution?
Easy answer is hardware. What say you?
we're not losing these kids because bama beat us. our recruiters are getting beaten by other recruiters. texas has been hot garbage and bo davis stole a kid last year.
I really don't want to throw fuel on this fire, but Robinson has posted multiple pictures on twitter that have people close to him wearing alabama clothes. I know I will likely get cursed for saying this or even looking at his twitter, but oh well. It is what it is.
I am not saying by any means that he is going to Alabama, but it sure seems like he is leaning that way
Kind of tells you where the Bama Program is compared to LSU. They slow played the best player in our state and he still will sign with Bama. Do you think we could slow play the best player in Bama and get him to commit if Bama wanted him?
Good Lord people, relax.
I disagree to some extent. If Bama doesn't beat us the number of championships they have is zero. So winning against them is important in more ways than 1 in terms of recruting head-to-head against them.
But I also feel we need stronger recruiters on staff. Ponamsky and others on BBI has stood up for Ensminger time and time again as though he provides some invaluable service to the staff. Anyone have any insight on what supersecret service that is?

this right here - this is what truly is disturbing. We can't hold on to kids we truly covet - even if they are slowed played by Bama.
Next year will reflect the true state of the LSU/Bama recruiting war and who holds the upper hand for LA kids.
How well are we recruiting Alabama right now?
We are recruiting in the state of Alabama?
This Alabama obsession by some of our fans is really getting pathetic.
A link to the article written by the bama site
Not to steal from TSD, but Beckwith said that Alabama feels like home
Our recruiting is fine.. Our recruiting class is very solid this year and every year.. it is tough to lose a great player that's instate but it happens everywhere.. Plenty of HC's across the country have ties to states they previously coached in.. Saban coahed in La and built relationships.. Some of his coaches have ties here as do our coaches also.. We have stolen great FLorida and Tx kids with multiple powerhouse programs in each state.. We dont lose many La recruits but it happens everywhere.. Gilmore, Pocic, Rettig??? get my drift.. We line up on the field with Bama every year and could win any game if we prepare and execute better.. We dont lose because they put better athletes on the field..
I understand your point, but when will it become a big deal? We lost the #1 player in the state last year and may lose it this year as well. I agree that we are recruiting out of state well, but whenever we have a top 100 player in the country, we have to keep this kid home. We went into NC and got some top talent this year. NC doesn't really have an amazing college football program in the state. It's been a while since we landed top talent in the state of texas....Shep, Brocker, and Loston are the last kids I can remember. I believe Les is trying to counter with better recruiters and I think Henry and Raymond are doing a great job, but we have to keep top 100 kids at home.

All I can say is all these kids that are going to Bama to play football better hope they can make a living in Alabama after football. If one of them steps in my office looking for a job - he's toast.
When asked who our natural rivals are I reply: Everybody we hate em all!!!
Hey, guys, don't panic.
Come on guys, read the 247 article again. And, for you guys who still maintain a TSD account, read that one again.
The article posted here is from the 247 Bama board and the line that stands out is as follows:
“Yeah, I feel like a have a little bit of a better idea. I’m going to keep that to myself for now."
That is from the damned ALABAMA 247 site!
He made a similar statement to the Scout writer from ALABAMA site.
What the hell do you expect him to say to those guys?
Uh..... "Yeah guys, it was fun but I am going to LSU" ?????
Let's not have a meltdown here.
Way too early.
Just adds a little suspense to his announcement at the AA game before a big audience on national TV.
We got a starting LBer from Al last year until he got hurt.
If he is going to Alabama, just don't third string safety us and all will be okay. No one threw an enormous fit over Devall. That's all we ask.
That was offered a greyshirt from Alabama. I love Kwon's ability and think he is a great LB, but he was asked to greyshirt.
Who cares? That is their mistake.
Agreed 100%. I thought we were discussing kids that both Alabama and LSU wanted that LSU won the battle for in the state of Alabama?
Again, I am not bashing the staff by any means. I just think we have dead weight on the staff at TE coach. We need another coach with LA ties to help Frank. I just want to keep our La kids home.
No offense friend but do you know how insecure you sound? We get a guy from Alabama but you belittle it. You discount Texas recruits like Danielle Hunter who will probably start next year at DE, and Corey Thompson who we got to replace Collins. Don't obsess over rankings. Dre Kirkpatrick was a 5* top 30 player, Mo Claiborne was a 3*. Did that matter when they got on the field? LSU will have a very good recruiting class this year. Recruiting is about who you get, not who you don't.
CAS, I understand your point, truly I do. However, I am stating facts with Kwon and not spreading a rumor. That is nto belittling it whatsoever. I am simply stating that we did not win the battle over Alabama for him in their own state. They are doing that in Louisiana.
Corey Thompson was a highly regarded recruit. I do not remember Hunter being one. I do, however, believe that he was a diamond in the rough and will be a very good player for us (look at his offer list). I am not a star gazer, but I can't stand losing the top recruit in our state to anyone....including Alabama.
I think some of the fellas on this board brush that off like it is not a big deal and it is. You cannot continue to lose the top recruit in your own state year after year.
We need Bama to lose in the BCSNC game but the hatred on here for ND is keeping people from realizing this. If they win again then it hurts us recruiting wise. A ND win is neither here nor there for us.
I will not cry the loss of Beckwith. I hope we get him but our success does not depend on getting him. He is not a LB in our 4-3 alignment. I know that we switch up occasionally to different alignments but he is a DE with his hand in the dirt in our 4-3. Bama is selling him as a LB in their 3-4 but the furtheration of quick counts and spread defenses is going to make their huge LB's obsocolete unless saban can get quick snaps and other safety concerns outlawed and I would not put it past him.
Beckwith is 6'2" 220 and actually that is not a DE for us unless he grows 3 or 4 more inches but he is too big for LB in our system. He is a tweener for us. If he gains 60 pounds he could be a helluva DT for us. doubtful though.
Bama was very suspect in the secondary this season. Milner made first team All American. There were a few safeties better than him this year. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix was supposed to be five star all-everything CB but he is average at best. LSU and Georgia both had a good chance to beat Bama except for a little luck on their side and some favorable officiating. They exposed Bamas secondary.
The matchup in the NC game? Manti (Manchild) Te'o. LSU and especially Georgia had smallish LB's but Manti meeting the often hurt Lacy and Yeldon in the hole at full speed will be fun to watch.
What was the subject of this thread? I forgot.
that is why I said next year will be important. Fournette is a once in a 10-15 yr talent - if he heads to Bama despite them having a truckload of RBs on the roster/2013 signing class/Scarborough already committed for 2014 then we need to admit we have a brewing problem.
