Ensminger has as much ties to Louisiana as any coach on our staff. Just because he's a middle aged white guy everyone assumes he is wasted space in recruiting, when he probably has as much respect among high school coaches in this state as anyone besides Frank.
Henry also has deep ties here, having played and/or coached at McNeese for over a decade.
Maybe it's the hopeless optimist in me, but I am gonna wait until we actually lose KB to Bama to freak out about losing KB to Bama.
That's why we wander and follow La Vie Dansante...
Point taken Grav, but Henry is a guy that you hear players mention (Diarse) about recruiting him. How many kids have you ever heard mention Ensminger?
And when he commits to LSU before his senior year will you admit that you got all worked up like a menopausal old lady for no good reason?
no then we move onto Hootie & Robinson
Shaq White said Ensminger was like a grandfather to him, IIRC. Called him a great man. Of course, the argument could be made that he was a LSU lock anyway, and I am sure I couldn't find the quote if pressed.
But like I said before, I think Ensminger's value lies in his longstanding relationships in the LA coaching community.
Kwon is definitely a work in progress. He needs to improve his work ethic or he will be hurt his entire career. He can probably play at the next level if he puts forth the effort. His speed is unbelieveable but he was too small for their beloved Jack LB position.
I love you bro, but I have always, and forever will, hate ND more that any other team on the planet!
I have been there, done that, tried to sit in their damned 12" seats. Ever wonder why everyone seems to stand up during their games? It's because their butts are wider than 12" so at least half of them have to stand up! Ever see their team, at difficult times during a game, gaze up at Touchdown Jesus to get a little help?
You weren't around when there were only 2 channels on TV and there were only 2 colleges on TV every week: Notre Dame and Army. Back when every big time Catholic HS college football player would sell their souls to go to Notre Dame?
Notre Dame doesn't have to play in a conference championship game, because they refuse to join a conference. They are the only team in the BCS that gets an automatic bid if they win a sufficient number of their games against their chosen foes.
I despise preferential treatment for anyone, and Notre Dame epitomises the concept of preferential treatment.
Sorry for the rant, but this one of my hot buttons!
"Notre Dame doesn't have to play in a conference championship game, because they refuse to join a conference"
I'm pretty sure Alabama did not play in a conference championship game last year either.
I didn't say you were spreading a rumor. They offered Alexander but he got hurt so they filled up their spots. But fretting over whether we won a head to head battle with them in Alabama is meaningless. 3 of the top 6 guys from Alabama last year went to FSU. 3 of the top 4 this year are currently not committed to Bama, Foster may got to UGA (I know he played in GA last year).
Collins was a legit #1 guy last year, but this year there is no clear cut #1 guy, quit worrying about it. We've got commitments from 8 of the top guys in the state. We've got so great OOS guys coming in as well.
Recruiting sites say he is the #1 player but thers no guarantee he will be better than the other top La kids many who will play for LSU.. This is a prediction.. We are loaded with youing LB's and have sighned some great looking D-line prospects.. We dont know for sure what we really lost with LC yet and if KB goes to Bama time will only tell how good he is compared to who we signed this year to play D-Line. I want KB to sign because the coaches really want him for a reason but if not I trust that the coaches will have someone else ready to get it done.. Where was Debose ranked when UF signed him? just sayin..
in the last two years they've had 22 of the top 100 players. we've had 3. we cant even sign the states best players anymore.
our recruiting is not fine, in fact its getting embarrassing.
Wow...embarrassing...You do realize we will probably have a top class this year...maybe top 5...WOW, we have high expectations.
Yeah you are so right....I guess guys like White, Diarse, Boutte, Melvin Jones, D Smith, and J Brazil arent even close to being the states best.
Our whiny fan base is what is getting embarrassing.
Proud to support everything Louisiana
We WON the recruiting head to head battle with Bama for the 11th ranked OG in Dodd. They say that they wanted Dodd real bad. They just picked up the second ranked OG in the Nation. Now I do not know who is really better. Dodd may be. I certainly dont know. I do know this, if they win next month then they will continue to propagate the saban and Bama myth. They will have everything better than anyone else and can offer more than anyone else. Hell, they are not propagating the "one big happy family" myth now. that used to be Auburn's selling point.

So Saban gets all the best players? Well since Miles has the best record against Saban with inferior players, in your opinion, I guess he develops his talent better and is a superior coach? This will be CLM 6th 11 win season in 8 years! People like you can't have it both ways, Miles and his staff can't be horrible recruiters AND horrible coaches! The record just says something completely different!
is that a zinger of some sort?
Let me turn this around Gravitiger - at what point in time would you start to worry about LA recruting from outside schools but esp. Bama? Define the threshold at which point even you'd admit there's a problem.
And spare me the defense of Ensminger - the man can't recruit well and that is the biggest need from a college TE coach.
So put him in the Charlie Bagglio liason role. Wasting the prime recruiting position coach job (TEs) on a re-tread who was a HS position coach before coming here is not maximizing your resources.
"In the SEC,you're a glorified run support guy.In the Big 12, you're a cover guy."-Bobby Burton asking why DBs go SEC
When we start consistently losing our best players to them, and it starts costing us on the field. Which hasn't happened yet. So far they have beaten us for exactly 2 out of about 40 common recruits from Louisiana, neither of whom has done anything meaningful yet. I still think we get KB and all our targets for next year.
And spare me the ignorant comments on a man that you know nothing about. I set out a plausible reason why Ensminger has value. You have no viable response except your basic retread "well he just sucks."

I agree that would be a good role for him.
