Don't see any way the Chik-Fil-A would pass on LSU and right now that's what I'm thinking LSU's reward will be.
If you could choose, though, would you rather the Gator Bowl on New Year's Day, which takes the #6 SEC team vs the #4 or 5 Big 10 team and has a higher payout and plays on New Year's Day? Or would you rather going to Atlanta for a lower payout and to play against the ACC #2 team?
If I'm LSU, I'm campaigning to go to the Gator because I think the benefits would be greater for the team and the fan base.
Big 10 is the worst of the bcs conferences this year save big east, would destroy whomever we would play. I would like to destroy Clemson instead...but I know money talks.
I think we should campaign for the capital one bowl.
It doesn't matter in the long run where we play because the conference shares the revenue anyway. I know the participating teams get a larger cut, but overall it evens out. To be honest I would just as soon play a slower Big 10 team than a Florida St. or Clemson with their team speed. If you remember our defense hasn't exactly slowed anyone down in the past three weeks. When was the last time we "destroyed" anyone?
This. Maybe a blowout in the SECCG would cause the capital one bowl to take us?
1. Sugar Bowl (BCS)
2. Capital One Bowl
3/4. Outback Bowl and Cotton Bowl Classic (alternates)
5. Chick-fil-A Bowl
6. Gator Bowl
7/8. Liberty Bowl and Music City Bowl (alternates)
9. BBVA Compass Bowl
This is the order that the Bowls pick teams.
What if the Capital One Bowl picks A&M. That would leave LSU and SCAR for the cotton.
Also a strong possibility that the Capital One picks LSU over all the other teams. A&M to Cotton. SCAR to Outback. UGA/BAMA to Chicken.
By no means are we a lock for the chicken bowl.
no BCS, no care

+10 Tigerlee....of all the other top tier SEC teams that played this week end had great showings..Eventho some played lesser teams, as we did, they came to play....as we did not. Florida played their usual strong second half and looked great... TAM, Bama, & Georgia all destroyed their opponents and South Carolina did Clemson in. Even Ole Miss looked like world beaters... Would not be suprised to see us drop in the polls behind TAM. If the bowl committies select teams on consistant performances, we did not help our cause. Before I get jumped for being a negatiger, I am just making a fairly obivious observation based on what I, as well as all, had the opportunity to watch.

Another thing to consider.
Michigan seems likely for the Capital One Bowl. If UGA beats Bama. The capital one bowl will look to avoid a rematch of Bama vs Mich and would pick LSU.
Bama would most likely drop to the chicken.
This seems like the best case scenario for all LSU fans.
only late game on friday night
good prep game before start of next year against TCU in same loc.
I get to go to the game
The people who think Cotton won't pick us because we play TCU to open the season make no sense.
The same thing happened two years ago when we played A&M and Oregon.
I have to go about this one by wondering what opportunity favors LSU the most.
First, a reward for the players for a successful season. What would be their choice, if they could decide?
Second, a venue that's attractive and accessible to LSU fans.
Third, is there a bowl location that enhances LSU recruiting?
I don't get this idea that "destroyed their opponents" is a major factor. Did ND destroy USC? Did Alabama destroy LSU? Based on the final play, they punched their ticket to the NC if they can get by Georgia.
Knowledgeable football fans would know Arkansas wasn't a lesser foe on Friday. A game is an entity to itself.
I like a healthy LSU's chances against anybody out there. If the most part, my assessment is LSU drew everybody's best shot. That's a complement in my neighborhood.
The major value of post season play, aside from income, is that teams stay together and work together a four weeks longer, thus, furthering their program.
My point has nothing to do with blowing smoke or drinking koolaid.or countering negativity.

im with you, now that we have no shot at the BCS, Im hoping its the Cotton since I live here in the DFW Metroplex
Especially if we could put a beat down on Texas or Oklahoma!
But, I think it will be
LSU vs Mich in a fla bowl
AM and tex in cotton
When Texas loses next week to Kstate that will give them four losses and not even the Cotton Bowl will consider them
BCS or Cotton then don't care.
tiger 76....good post with thoughtful insights. Guess I looked at Arky in the light of their performance against Miss. St. I acknowlege we had a 10-2 season and a successful season but for me it was not a fun season to watch. Granted, we started this season with more negative issues again. The TM7 let down, injuries to key players, and obsticles to over come. On the other hand we had great expectations at the QB position. As the season started and progressed, we had glimpses of a team that could compete against any team in the nation; we were a legitimate canidate for the glass ball..... then we had our glimples of the other team who could not get out of their own way. Just when we would think we've got it together, the other team shows up. It was hard to watch a team with so much talent not to play up to their level. Very frustrating. I realize we are a young team and will make our share of mistakes but we just did not seem to have the fire like other teams. Ole Miss for example, under sized and less talented, they always showed up to play every game! They were exciting to watch. Know we beat them but, it was not a gimme. Excuse my ramblings, just thinking of the season that might have been. Always a Tiger with high expections!
I don't see Texas beating K-State either.
I don't really have a preference for a certain Bowl but more an opponent. I don't want to play any of the Big 10 schools. Just don't think there is any benefit to it. Does nothing for recruiting, the teams don't belong on the field with us and if we don't show up and play well, it only hurts our profile. I want either Clemson or one of the Big 12 schools. Either of those options are better on field matchups and more beneficial in recruiting. Also if we were to have a bad showing it wouldn't be perceived as badly. A loss or terrible showing against a Big 10 school is bad for perception all around. Even if we blew out a Big 10 team it would go unnoticed on a national scale.
I think its a slap in the face to LSU if they dont get the Cotton or the Capital One Bowl .... all other bowls just seem stupid for LSU who is 10-2 and lost by a combined 12 points to Bama and UF to be thrown into.
But Im sure the bowls will screw us over this year and we will end up in the Chick-Fil-A playing Clemson.
Id much rather
Cotton vs. ?
Capital One vs. Michigan

I really don't think that the Cotton will take us over aTm. They must have an Alumni Assn twice the size of ours. Their enrollment is HUGE. The Texas Governor is an Alumnus also. They are a bigger draw from an Economic standpoint.
I'm in agreement with you too D14......Can't see the Cotton passing on Johnny Football with all of those strong connections.
Appreciate the post, CB. I think Arky played near where their talent level was. LSU looked gimpy and tired.
This was a tough year to watch - so close, so far away.
Hoping for a bowl game some of us can set our teeth into - the damn season came and it's gone already.
Let's hope whereever the Tigers bowl, they get our support and they win.
Agreed. Its like trying to decide where to eat and your only choices are Golden Corral and Ryan's. They're both crap.
When asked who our natural rivals are I reply: Everybody we hate em all!!!
