Of the 23 batters he faced. I know it's just Brown, but that's damn impressive.
+1.. And we struck 15 last night.
I'm loving our pitching staff man.. We can hit well too.
The SEC is tough this year, the SECW could have 4 teams hosting this year.
We need more baseball talk on here for sure.. Thanks for the thread bud
Danielle Hunter, Jamario Rasco, Anthony FREAK Johnson.. DL wrecking crew of 2013.
I'm getting tingles with this team. They seem focused. Unlike the 2010 team.
Pitching is strong, added 2 good bats to replace the only two position guys they lost last year, added speed in the outfield (it showed--stretching singles into doubles and snagging tough outfield shots), have tons of experience and are 'hungry.'
Smells like Omaha
Proud to support everything Louisiana
The hitting problems are not unique to this season. We've had trouble for a number of years hitting the ball relative to the talent on the team. As I said above, Javi is one of the best recruiters in the country, but is not a great hitting coach. He's not a seasoned hitting coach. He's a 31 year old guy who played a few years of minor league ball and is basically learning how to be a hitting coach on the job at LSU (Does anyone remember is constant awful base running judgment as 3B coach a few years ago before PM finally removed him as 3B coach?). He may be a Turtle Thomas in 10 or 15 years, but he's not close to being there now. The problem is that I don't know if you can get a more quality hitting coach and keep the same level of recruiter.

Yea our baserunning was awful when Javi was at 3rd... I'd like to see a stat for how many runners we had thrown out at the plate during his time as 3rd base caoch... but as far as him being a hitting coach and recruiter, I think I'd take the hitting coach over a recruiter. I mean LSU baseball is a premiere name brand in college baseball, and I dont think we need a Frank Wilson type of recruiter on the baseball staff. I mean we would onviously need to replace Javi with someone who could do a little recruiting, but I think player development is more important than recruiting prowess in college baseball, especially at a place like LSU.
