He has the tools, but has struggled in SEC play. I know a good bit has to do with the OL and it's injuries, but it seems things have not "clicked" for him yet this year. Do you think Les will go conservative on O like last year or let em rip? He has the talent for sure. RTR and here's to a injury free, physical game
Eat clean. Train Hard.
Honestly... I have NO FRIGGIN' IDEA what we are going to do on offense.
Danielle Hunter, Jamario Rasco, Anthony FREAK Johnson.. DL wrecking crew of 2013.
Come on. We know we will see at least 5 pitches up the middle.
God I feel stupid for just typing that ... "pitches up the middle" ... Gets me everytime.
If we play conservative it is going to be a long night for LSU. We have to pass the ball.
Your right. What ever we do, we have to be balanced.
And to comment on the original post, if we win, I feel like he will have to be a playmaker. IMO he can do it, he just hasn't found "it" yet. We'll see...
That is exactly how Les likes it...
That's why we wander and follow La Vie Dansante...
For us to win, he MUST be accurate down field and the WRs must catch the ball.
One positive is that they play 10 times better at home than on the road.
For whatever reason, we play a lot better on the road this year. I am interested on seeing how each others O performs in the red zone. Something's gotta give. I can't see another 9-6 game happening
I can....1 interception from A.J Saban gets just as tight as us.
I agree with you.....I think Mettenberger has to make plays for LSU to win and complete some of those passes he missed on against Texas A&M. He has shown flashes this year and also on the juco tape so you know he is capable.
Mett will need to make some plays, and so will the WRs. If our attitude is to play to win, we will have a balanced attack, and play without fear. However, Coach Miles will always prefer to run the ball first, I think, because that is our strength. Low-scoring game for sure; 21 points ought to win it. Be interesting to see how prominent a role the refs play - "flag" football will hinder the entire atmosphere of the game.
Not trying to make excuses for him or say he'll play any better Saturday but the wind against A&M was blowing extremely hard and it was in to your face or behind you rather than blowing left to right which made deep ball accuracy much more difficult. Obviously he's had problems in this area in other games but as a fan at the A&M game, the wind was a huge factor.
Mettenberger will be a play maker Saturday. The question is for which team? Give him time I think he is capable of hitting the receivers. Pressure him and he's capable of throwing a pick six. It comes down to the offensive line's protection.
I doubt that unless AJ is rattled (highly unlikely). We will stretch the field against you, or at least try to, with a TE/HB available for a check down. You guys will see as many crossing routes as we will see power from you. We will run more out of 3 wide sets to spread you out. I could see Minter having a game just like the UF one
HAHAHA and this super secret offense has confused who's defense in the last 3 years???
We only ran the zone toss 1 or 2 times in the NCG.... and I'm with Lesticals, I have no clue what to expect. The one certain thing is that he will not have the same gameplan as he had in the NCG game because 90% of our Offense seemed to be based around the option. We couldnt really see what the gameplan was in last year's first game with J Lee because he threw 2 quick Ints and was pulled... I would imagine he would build off whatever his gameplan was for that night
Proud to support everything Louisiana
He put up some pretty big numbers at Butler. Obviously, Bama's D is light year's better, but he must have the ability to hit receivers. I wonder if it's just a confidence thing right now.
No but his ability to facilitate the offense has grown to the point that he is ready to over come the play calling, the OL injuries, and the drops by the WR's...
no excuses for last years gameplan but i think CLM knew that JJ and/or Lee had no chance against that defense.. He did at Bama what gave us the best chance to win, dont put our defense in a bind, keep the game close and put it on our defense and ST's to make a play and steal one from them. Saban was so frustrated and with a young qb he gambled late against our defense and lost.. He knew our offense was severely overmatched against a slew of nfl talent on that defense.. We will see the same thing.. They will force Mett to beat them with his arm, they will pressure him like crazy and try to get him moving.. He will have to stay in there and take some hits.. he needs to realize that he will be pressured alot and will have to have to protect the ball and take the sack.. no dumb throws.. just enough to keep em honest and we will be able to have some success running the ball... and on defense we need to hit AJ hard early and often.. we have to force him to make bad throws.. i say blitz him all night and put it on our secondary to hold up
We either bring to the game an offensive scheme that we can wn with or we have failed again.
For God's sake leave it all on the field this time around!
