Waiting word on Tahj....
That's good news. This is going to piss a few people here but I hope Miles sits Ford on the pine for awhile so he understands he has to succeed in the classroom to help this team.
That will probably happen.
I would hope the coaches at most give him < 5 carries these first few games to make a point. Tahj we really, really need though. Luckily we play a patsy first, sit him or punish him for that...then hopefully he can start vs. Washington when we'll need him.
Paul Mainieri = 358-147 ovr (70.9%), 136-100 SEC (57.6%), 21-10 NCAA (67.7%), 3 CWS App., 2 SEC Titles, 1 National Title
Yep, I hope he does as well.
There's no fanbase I dislike more than our own. If we didn't have depth at RB this wouldn't be brought up at all.
You don't know Michael. He's a player to you and if we get production at RB and he never played again you wouldn't skip a beat. Let me tell you, though, you don't know anything about his situation. He didn't miss one class during summer school, you'll never hear him getting in trouble with drugs. Every letter that gets sent to him by some little kid gets replied w/ an autograph. You won't ever hear him saying something provocative. He's yes sir, no sir all the way. He's trying to do well to play at the next level and make a living to provide for his future.
Given the limited time he has to show he can do well at the next level by proving it in college, I'll bet you wouldn't want someone wishing the same for yourself or a member of your family.
I see people talking about the Aggie fanbase, or Alabama or Arkansas, but LSU has the worst of any of them. It's pathetic how poorly our fanbase talks about the players it roots for.
I'll bet if you met him and actually talked to him for a bit your ignorant tune would change dramatically.
Be Here Now
Preach on, Gold Stripes. Agree completely.
Agree Gold Stripe seeing as though we have no clue what the real issue was. All we know is that it was academic related. Maybe it was something beyond his control. Judging is better left undone unless facts are known.
sorry, but if he's been cleared then he's in good academic standing, right? so what would he be punished for?
Fumbling in practice
"In the SEC,you're a glorified run support guy.In the Big 12, you're a cover guy."-Bobby Burton asking why DBs go SEC
Amen, Gold Stripes.
No need to argue. OP should have probably just added..."If his academic issues are based in any way on laziness or disregard to the team,..." I don't know Michael at all. If what gold stripes said is correct, no need to sit. We have to remember that not everyone goes through school easily. Many people work their tails off and don't get by. If Michael is working and getting by, more power to him. I think everyone is on the same page, just need to be more clear in what they say. That way gold stripes can begin to like the LSU fan base. Haha
And to try to help with the OP, I think LSU is very lucky to have coach miles in these type situations. I think he has proven himself to be stern and fair. I trust how he handles.
Was Ford injured or slowed in any way during camp...or was it all academic related?
Wow, do you know the definition of over-reaction or enabling?
Did I misunderstand? This is a forum for opinions? Yes, I'd have brought the issue up even if me and D14 were his back-up. Michael is supposed to attend class and not do drugs. That's just elementary discipline and accountability.
No one suggested for a moment that he wasn't a fine young man, We all know he's a polite, humble young man.
He's an upperclassman who should have his priorities down - the first one of them is the classroom. His team, coaches, and program are counting on him. Apparently, you overlooked that point. He's a kid I enjoy having in my home and I wouldn't hesitate to remind him about self-responsiblity and school.
Bottom line - he's too good a kid to have been waiting for an freaking appeal. Blame anything and everybody but this belongs at the feet of Mike.
You're babbling about making a living and playing at the next level. He's going to need an education. He's competing with Blue, Hilliard, Ware, and Hill for touches. He's got every conceivable support for study handed to him.
You'll rarely hear me callout a LSU player for play performance - but waiting out an appeal during a NC run to me means I'd sit him for a game. In fact, I'd leave him off the travel squad so he got the message.
Post on brother.
