That's why we wander and follow La Vie Dansante...
"You can learn more character on the two-yard line than anywhere else in life." - Former LSU Coach and AD Paul Dietzel
"I guess you've just gotta find something you love to do and then... do it for the rest of your life." - Max Fisher
Good stuff, guys.
I agree that Arkansas offer is legitimate. Miles salary is 3.75 mil. That increase represented by a five year offfering of 5 mil plus is a humongus increase by any standard. It says we are damn serious, Les.
What isn't generally known is Miles has a long-time football relationship with both Long and Jerry Jones running thru Michigan and Dallas. Les has to give the courtesy of listening to his life time friends.
I'm not in agreement that Les is heading off to retirement. Hardly. He's got another five to nine years easily, if his health holds.
I think Les is happy at LSU; I think he has a vision there and some things he wants to accomplish there.
Les pushed for money for his staff last time - guys like Wilson and Chavis were deserving. That's what a leader does - he tries to reward and hold on to his best performers.
This isn't necessarily about money but money talks. It's more about securing the program, and respect for Miles.
Sometimes that babe on the dance floor looks good but in the end you wisely go home with the one you brought.
But to be honest, i don't know how this one ends.

A couple more key questions...what would Frank and Chavis do if Miles left? Would Frank bolt for an OC position or mid-major head gig? Would Chavis stick around if we hired a defensive-minded coach like Patterson or Del Rio?
I think everyone agrees that our success is predicated on recruiting and defense. Would hate to see that fall apart if Miles' top assistants left.

Prefacing my saying I don't necessarily want, or believe, that Miles is going to Arkansas. ANY coach we replaced him with would be an absolute fool not to keep Wilson and I don't see anyway Wilson would follow Miles to Arkansas (or anywhere else). Wilson is a Louisiana/LSU man first and foremost, not a Miles man per se.
I mentioned in a previous thread that I'd be more upset losing Wilson with the way the in-state 2014 (and 2015) classes are set up to really reload the roster. I don't believe Wilson would leave for a lateral position (i.e. RB coach) slot anywhere and LSU would easily match any such financial package. But, if a Southern Miss looked a him as a HC or OC or another school made him an OC offer, my first call by Miles or whomever is the HC at LSU at the time would be to Jabbar Jukkule at Edna Karr who is following Wilson's career path potentially as a top New Orleans area high school coach (and St. Aug grad) and would without much doubt be an equally formidable recruiter.
