But what the hell. I’m not nearly as confident that Robert will be a Rebel as I was 2 weeks ago ( I was 100% at that point, now 75/25) but I still think he will be. I was just wondering why some of you guys seem to be filled with supreme confidence when it comes to him. I know it’s easy to say "You’re Ole Piss and were LSU, that’s why", but I’m actually looking for some concrete rationale and logical reasoning as to why he will be a Tiger and not a Rebel. I have no doubts he really likes LSU and in a bubble would be a Tiger. I guess good for us Rebs we don’t live in a bubble.
I’ll hang up and listen.
Anyone who follows recruiting is not "confident." We know it's an uphill battle, but one LSU can compete with Ole Miss on.
Anyone who tells you otherwise is irrational.
Ole Miss has one thing for him, his brother and that is a HUGE ONE!
LSU has 4 d linemen that will be drafted this year. 3 in the first 2 rds, and a first rounder last year. His recruiter is a stud recruiter and his position coach. LSU already has a very good Dline class with another very good class coming next year.
Not sure what JPS knows that makes him so confident.
I think we believe we have a very good shot if we can get him and some family on campus. Supremely confident? Only the delusional or if some here believe they have some inside info. Some do, but the rest of us can't truly evaluate the basis of their confidence without knowing the source.

What caused you to lose confidence. Thought you heard it straight from his mouth. Please share with us. Your loss of confidence will only help build ours!!! LOL!!!
First, I get the "bubble" analogy but it's getting old now. You are a good poster who has always seemed courteous while also pulling for your school. Don't mess that up by being sarcastic.
Second, I don't think the majority of us would say we are supremely confident that he will be a Tiger. There is nothing concrete in recruiting...even with those recruits who seem to be solid to certain schools. However, there are some posters who, through time, have developed great reputations for being spot on with recruiting tidbits. Some of these posters are hearing that RN is ours to lose. I don't think that someone working off of that is living in a bubble.
What some of us do see is that there is no committment to OM given all of the ties to the program. We also see him scheduling visits other places and scheduling LSU on the last weekend. Will he show up? Who knows. But as of right now, it doesn't look like we are the longshot like most national guys have painted the situation.
"You can learn more character on the two-yard line than anywhere else in life." - Former LSU Coach and AD Paul Dietzel
Ole Miss Pros
- NFL legacy of putting out DL
- Top two ends Mingo and Montgomery gone
- DL Coach Brick Haley
- a chance to win a national title
- National Exposure
- elite players playing around him
I could go on and on ...
Outside OM having his brother and his mom wanting them to play together LSU is a far better choice for a top DL like RN ...

The bubble wasn’t the best analogy, should have said Vacuum. I was talking his momma, his brother and his found relationship with CHF. I think you misunderstood what I was trying to communicate. No disrespect to you guys at all. I actually grew up an LSU fan (have a lot of family that went there and are from Baton Rouge). It wasn’t until I went to OM did I become a big fan. So much so I stayed here in Oxford.
As for why I lost confidence, nothing more than the visits. If he doesn’t visit, it’s a lock. However, anytime you get someone one campus it has to make one worry.
I did hear it from his mouth. However, Im not dumb enough to think he wouldnt lie to me or change his mind. He was in front of 40-50 other Rebel fans too. Whats he gonna say? "Screw Ole Miss"?
What about being a legend and building something as opposed to being another guy in a long history of guys? If we get RNK and the other 4, 5 STARS were projected to, we could compete in a few years for the west if CHF is as good of a coach as he looks to be.
No worries. I don't think many of us mind discussion with other fans.
OM has some significant ties with RN and, IMO, they should be the leaders for him. However, just as you said and to which I agree, get a kid on campus and who knows. Our advantage IF (big if) he shows up is that we will get to make the last impression days before NSD.
who? where? no one on this board
GET AT ME
Riki, texasfence, and, if I looked back I could confirm, Gruss has been on the fence about it.
They are certainly enough for me to not write off his recruitment.
outside of Gruss, who's never said that, I didn't know those guys were insiders. I'll have to run this up this by my sources to confirm.
yeah you may be able to compete in a few years ... but RN will only be in school for 3. LSU has the talent already in place. If he want to compete from day one its not Ole Miss. It takes a long time to stockpile and keep the depth chart at a level to not have to worry. Ole Miss could very well be good down the road but its going to take 3-4 top 10 recruiting classes to get them on par with the rest of the SEC elite. RN could be an Ole Miss legend but then again so could he be at any other school.
That would be my pitch Reb, but it works better if it is the recruits home state. I do appreciate your civil approach. I think we have a shot and I have seen little that could be called supreme confidence. We will see.

Gruss never thought we led for RN? I could have sworn that he had stated at one point, if not recently, that he liked our chances. The others have posted pretty good stuff on other sites.
Besides, you're reading too much into my post. I wasn't saying we were going to lock him up. The point I was making is that I am not writing off RN's recruitment. I don't know what you're trying to prove here...
I took it that these guys saying sources really had source? ( I know it’s a message board, we all have sources) I guess I shouldn’t take what they said as legit, it’s just that they seemed to be verifying each other as if they all were in on something from the same source.
Not trying to give you a hard time. If there is a second SEC team I cheer for, it's the New Miss Bears (sorry Ole Miss is a Rebel). All of my family is from the Osyka area.
Just curious on your confidence change. Thanks for the answer.
Personally, I think Freeze is going to be a pain in the butt in a few years with a full 85 player squad.
Don't know if this was a pot shot at me. I wasn't claiming a source. I was claiming a belief that we have a shot based off of guys who I think are reputable when they bring something to the table.
All in all, good discussion.
Not to be a smart a$$, but it's really his momma. His brother has been an Ole Miss all along, but he didn't start talking up Ole Miss until his momma told him he wasn't going to Clemson and she wanted him with his brother. He didn't "find" that relationship with Freeze until his momma laid down the law.
I know you'd love to get the kid, and I think you will, but doesn't it suck for Robert that he has to go where his brother chose to go instead of where he would choose to go? It's a shame that one brother gets to make a decision based on what's best for him, while the younger brother has to just abide by that decision.
Second good laugh of the day! Awesome.
LSU DL in the NFL
Ricky Jean Francois
Keke Mingo (draft)
Sam Montgomery (draft)
Bennie Logan (draft)
Lavar Edward (draft)
Ole Miss DL in the NFL
Gilbert Pena (possible draft)
I know that doesn't mean a lot, but it means a lot to 18 year olds who dream of going to the NFL.
