Chuck Baker's dad, who I work with. First let me tell everyone that this was not just a case of LSU having a change of heart and pulling his offer. He dad said that Chuck was told that he had to have his GPA at a certain point to keep that offer and it's not there. LSU had already told him that they could not risk taking him and having him not qualify because the numbers were too tight. NO hard feelings at all and Chuck Senior says the blame is squarely on his son for not taking care of business.
I think I can speak for all Tiger fans when I say that I wish him nothing but the best. I know he wanted to be a Tiger and sometimes life throws us curveballs.
"You can learn more character on the two-yard line than anywhere else in life." - Former LSU Coach and AD Paul Dietzel
"I guess you've just gotta find something you love to do and then... do it for the rest of your life." - Max Fisher
"I strive to never let the perfect be the enemy of the good. They are companions, not rivals, for our affections." -Lance Paddock
I always worry about how these things play out.
I hope Baker finds some additional motivation to close the gap in his studies.
He has the talent - he needs to do the classroom work.
Thanks for posting. Always great to get the other side of things. I wish the best for Chuck and his future.
I wish Chuck Baker the best.
His dad sounds like a stand up guy!
Yup... He sounds like a normal, good Dad.. I hope every Parent would tell their kids that they didn't take care of business when they don't make good grades and not blame other people.
Danielle Hunter, Jamario Rasco, Anthony FREAK Johnson.. DL wrecking crew of 2013.
Great info... thanks
Proud to support everything Louisiana
Thanks for the update, 21. Appreciate you keeping us informed. Also, let me say that I feel Chuck would have been a real asset to the program, and I wish him the best in the future. Also, a shout out to Mr. Baker, who seems like a great parent and role model to hold his son responsible. Not all parents do this, as we know. I know Chuck will do well in life with that kind of support.
His dad is a good guy. Honestly, I'm not sure that he would have had a big impact at LSU so this may be the best thing for him at this point. Very disappointing for me though! I was really looking forward to having someone on the inside to give me info!

Maybe a spring enrollee??
At this point his dad said recruiting is just on hold and all everything is going into school work. His GPA is 2.3, but he is really struggling with Math. I do not believe there is any chance he gets back with LSU and he didn't either.
If I had to guess, and he didn't say this, I'm thinking Junior College is in his future or a smaller school.
I hope chuck takes this hiccup in life and use the motivation to let a future football scholarship get him a college degree.
Yea, I think Juco is where he will head off to. I've already told a couple of Jucos about him so tell the dad to give me a call if he needs any help with getting some more info on some Jucos and getting his name out to some.
BTW.....GREAT kid and it's easy to see that he has a GREAT role model in his father with an attitude like that.

Your a good man SS.
When asked who our natural rivals are I reply: Everybody we hate em all!!!
He'll probably end up at qualified at Alabama and come back to haunt us like E.Lacy has!
It's good to hear that he has a father who is willing to teach him accountability while also supporting him. I wish him nothing from the best.
S/S, thoughts on Firny's proposal? Do you think he could be a possible spring enrollee?
Totally agree. What a classy father and son and I have huge respect for how they are handling their business! The kind of people I would want in my foxhole!
