the LSU D is going to be sick. In fact, i will go on record now that it will rival the 2011 D and may be even better. The reason is that the LB play will be superb and possibly dominating compared to what we had in 2011.
While we may be breaking in a new QB, we have some serious young talent waiting to spread their wings.
I agree....Chavis is getting all the linebackers he wants, it started with last years class.
Especially if we see solid D-line play.. I would like to see Logan return to help with depth.. If our Defense is even close to as good as 2011's imo we will have a good shot at getting to Atlanta.. I think our offense will be very good next year..
So this is about the potential 2014 defense? I think some folks are confused.
I guess it would break down something like...
DE - SR. Rasco, SR. Maclin
DT - SR. Freak, JR. Thomas
DT - SR. Ferguson, SO. Gilmore
DE - JR. Hunter, SR. Allen
OLB - JR. Alexander, JR. Louis
MLB - JR. Feist, rFR. M. Jones
OLB - JR. Debo, JR. Phillips
CB - JR. Mills
S - SR. Martin, JR. Sandolph
S - JR. Thompson, SO. Cutrer
CB - SO. White
Nick - JR. Collins
Dime - JR. Eugene

I don't think Maclin will start at DE. Probably Hunter instead.
I don't think Freak Johnson will be here in 2014. If he has a good year in 2013, I think he'll be gone. And by God we absolutely NEED him to have a big year in 2013.
Wow is right, and let me tell you there are about 8 more that will be in that rotation as well. Every year several young pups step up. Just because we have not seen them muich doesnt mean they cant play. They are just biding their time when it is right. No one was going to get in the DE rotation much this year. But in 2013 and 14 LSu will see some of the pups come in and make an impact.....as usual.
I think the one guy that was poised to join that rotation this year was Jordan Allen. I'm excited to see what a top 3 DE rotation of Rasco, Hunter and Allen will look like in 2013. I don't see the glaring drop off that so many others see in that group, particularly if Allen's knee is ready to go. LSU didn't ask Sam Montgomery for great athleticism this year - they asked him to play physically at the point of attack and defend his edge. I think Allen and Rasco can do the same things. LSU did ask Mingo for great athleticism this year, but I don't think he was ever really healthy enough to do it. Between the shoulder injury in the offseason the his ankle injury early in the season, he just never looked as explosive in 2012 as he did in 2011. Of course, part of that may have been his adjusting to playing with responsibility instead of being just a designated pass rusher as he was in 2010 and 2011.

Herron will be in that rotation for sure.. Possibly next season at DE playing like rasco did as a freshman
I agree with the LB play firn but I still believe it will be based around K Minter. I feel if he gets a draft grade in the 3rd round or lower he may be gone but I hope not.
I have Hunter starting at DE
I completely agree about Frank Herron. I think he may get some playing time next year and be part of the rotation next year. I liked our 5 man DE rotation this year of:
4. Chauncey Ahyghere (spelling)
And a 5 man DE rotation of:
Would be nice as well.IIm all for that
(I'm the one that accidentally down-voted you. Stupid phone) but I already went an upvoted a few of your post to make up for it because I completely agree about Herron
I think Herron will take a redshirt year like Sam and KeKe did. He is very physically gifted but also very raw. Neal is the freshman DL most likely to contribute next year IMO.
That's why we wander and follow La Vie Dansante...
