ground in the world of college football? Are we headed down hill or was this just a season marred by injuries and such? Opinions?
Marred by a bad coach ruining all the talent at his hands. We are guaranteed at least 2 losses every year unless Tyrann Mathieu somehow has been cloned.
"In the SEC,you're a glorified run support guy.In the Big 12, you're a cover guy."-Bobby Burton asking why DBs go SEC
for years Ive been the most optimistic Tiger fan on earth, but, IMO, we're done. we wont be Kentucky, we won't go 6-6 or anything, we'll just do this. we'll show promise, we'll put guys in the NFL, there will be times when we'll look unbeatable, but then we'll stumble around and f**k up just enough to ruin the season.
we're poorly coached, we always have been, and now that our recruiting is falling behind we don't have enough freakish talent to overcome that. I hoped it would change, but Miles doesn't seem to mind. the entire program is getting embarrassing. the team has no emotion and the fans leave in the third quarter. we used to have pride in being LSU but that's gone, and I have no idea what will bring it back.

These same comments were made a couple years ago, then they went undefeated. So I just don't see how folks are so matter-of-factly saying the team is guaranteed two losses a year when they only have two regular season losses in the past two seasons.
We have had at least two losses in 7 out out of the 8 years that Miles has been here. The same mistakes that lead to two losses have been repeated by your own admission.
What would make anyone believe that this year is the year that everything gets turned around when you consider we will put the youngest defense on the field that we have under Miles is anyone's guess???
While I appreciate your enthusiasm for what if and the magic that Les has under his hat the odds and history are in the naysayers corner on this one.
We will be lucky to only lose two games next year!
We have two losses in every year Miles has been here save for 2011 when, like I said, Mathieu single handedly turned games around. No way we are anywhere near undefeated without his miracle plays over and over and over.
Absolutely not. Despite what people believe, a team still needs some luck on its side during a season. LSU caught some incredibly bad breaks this past season with dismissals and injuries. Take away similar number starters/contributors off the Bama roster and they are a 2 or 3 loss team this season.
I started this post because this conversation came up among a group of friends, I had to admit that the swagger of the program seems to be fading and we have a new reason each week for our poor play. We keeping getting top 10 recruiting classes and then we don't seem to know how to use them. We had 5* K. Williams and did nothing with him, and same goes with R. Shepard. We absolutely screwed over a QB that won 8 games for us. I think CLM is a decent man who recruits well but cannot manage a coaching staff. I saw the same CLM on the sidelines last nite that that showed up in New Orleans last year looking like a deer caught in the head lights. With the talent we put on the field and the ultimate result, I have to believe there is some serious lack of communication within our program. We have problems and they need to be fixed. That's CLM's job and he is well paid...

Winning a bowl game again might be nice.

Good question, CB. I delayed on an opinion because I don't think too well with a hangover.
I don't see a decline in LSU's postion in the world of football. ESPN oohed and aahed over the LSU talent.
I'll hazard some guesses here and hope no one tries to take my head off for a opinion. LSU came off another tough season with some injuries and losses due to academics and conduct. It was one play from a SEC C game and more. I think Clemson expected physical SEC football and went about preparing for that and this was a chance to showcase what has been a good program. I think Boyd is one helluva elite QB and he show that and more.
But LSU did "take a hit" when it had a chance to improve its resume on Monday. And a post-season loss doesn't help those hangovers. The world didn't end. I'm glad Miles has to answer, not me. Next year doesn't get easier - tougher schedule, more hungry and talented SEC teams, and probably a lot of positions to fill.
We've got 8 months to fester and complain. And I'm not really looking forward to that.
The huge difference between LSU's defense this year compared to the previous years is the lack of that elite CB. Put Claiborne or Peterson on Hopkins and the game is a blowout in LSU's favor. Most of Boyd's passing yards and both of his passing TD's went to Hopkins.
"That was Death Valley. It's where opponent's dreams come to die." - Miles
Yea we cannot let 1 WR kill us the way Hopkins did... he was literally all Boyd had in the 2nd half
Boyd's stats: 36/50 346 yds and 2 TD's
Hopkins stats: 13 for 191 yds and 2 TDs... Hopkis had 1/3 of Boyd's completions, over 1/2 of his yards, and all of his TD's
Exactly. He wasn't spreading the ball evenly Drew Brees-style. All Boyd did was throw to a target that was going to make an almost guaranteed play against our helpless secondary.
i dont understand how you think recruiting is falling behind. we will probably finish with a top 5 class this year & next year has the making to be one of the best ever.
This may be the most rediculous post I've seen since I've joined. Recruiting down? We had so many young guys thrown to the wolves and won 10. But our recruiting is down. We may have the best class this year top to bottom. What coach has won more than ours outside of saban? We must mk changes on offense though.
