Not much to this regarding LSU but he talks about recruiting in general.
We've tried him numerous times and have never had much luck with him. Closest I got was when he answered and thought I was Coach Raymond then hung up on me when he realized I wasn't:)
There is a buzz surrounding Southridge safety Jamal Carter, a verbal commitment to Miami who is looking at other schools.
Well at least he answers for Corey.
Yea, that's exactly what I thought. Don't think he will make that mistake again, though, because he hasn't picked up since:)
Anyone heard anything new on him since his visit other than this article?
Proud to support everything Louisiana
Found this Carter update on the Miami site. The LSU trip got him thinking. Still sounds like he will be going to Miami but not because he is all fired up about it.
2013 Miami commitment Jamal Carter from Southridge High School had a disappointing senior season, as his Spartans didn't live up to the expectations that most had for them. Carter will get one last chance on Saturday night to take the field as a high school player and he's ready for the opportunity.
"I'm gonna go all out because it's my last high school game. I'm gonna put it all on the table. I'm trying to have fun."
Carter took a visit to LSU last weekend and enjoyed himself.
"It was fun. LSU, Baton Rouge, they showed me a good time and got me thinking."
Three Miami coaches went to visit Carter in the airport before he left to Baton Rouge.
"They came to check on me, it wasn't anything major."
The hard-hitting safety says he will be taking two more visits, one to Miami (January 18) and one to Clemson. While he's been to Miami's campus multiple times, he's still looking forward to the experience.
"I already know Miami so it's not anything new, but I'm just ready to have a good time."
Carter discussed how the recruiting process has treated him over the past month while being committed to Miami since the summer.
"It's really crazy because I have a lot of people telling me Miami is where I should be and then I have other coaches like at Clemson just telling me some things that have me confused."
Two major factors are really keeping him tied in with the 'Canes.
"My family really wants me here in Miami, especially my momma. Playing early is a big factor too so after seeing a lot of the young guys play this year that's a big deal for me."
Schools Still Pushing for Carter
I wonder how that trip to the airport for the Miami coaches was documented? Was it an in-home visit because it is definitely an off-campus visit which should count as one of their six.
Of course, they could say they happened to bump into him but better have some good documentation on that.
-----Didn't think about that. The coaches involved are named in this 12/14/12 update. Carter apparently tweeted it was Paul Williams, Mike Barrow, and Mark D'Onofrio.
**Here's a really cool story on Miami commit Jamal Carter: He will be visiting LSU this weekend, but Carter also revealed something really interesting on his twitter page this morning.
"Jus chilled wit my future coaches until It was time to check in."
"They really came to chill wit me before I went on a visit to another college! Dats real!!"
So apparently a group of Miami coaches went to meet with him at the airport with him before he got going. That's a really unique and aggressive strategy that Carter obviously appreciated. In another tweet, he told good friend Deon Bush that it was Paul Williams, Mike Barrow, and Mark D'Onofrio that went to see him at the airport. He also tweeted at Bush that he would be visiting Miami on January 18th. I've reiterated this a couple times over the past weeks, but I don't see much to worry about with Carter's commitment.
Recruiting Update 12/14
Yea, I wonder if that created some headaches for Miami's Compliance Office. I would imagine they are keeping a close, close eye on anything and everything that happens on the recruiting trail.
