According to Texas fans
He seemed mighty quiet on the recruiting front this season at ASU. Can't recall one story where his name was mentioned, then again you don't read much about kids considering LSU and ASU? But thought he'd at least stick his nose in Louisiana. Maybe he was saving his efforts until a job like this came open?

I think this helps LSU. The way A&M is recruiting Texas, Texas had to do something. Now they will both fight harder and take up more time, etc in recruiting Texas, while leaving Louisiana alone
Any indication the Longhorns are going to change their philosophy of taking commitments from the first 23 in-state kids who they offer at their spring camp? If not, don't see how that changes the dynamic with Texas kids?
Similarly, expect Davis and now Porter to try to swoop in and get a Louisiana kid "late" to supplement the Texas kids they commit at camp.

I'm really interested to see what happens w Porter in terms of East Texas prospects that both the Aggies and LSU are after. LSU has gotten into a routine of taking 1-2 Texas kids a year now, but I wonder if Porter tries to shut that down completely, locking up the Jalen Mills and Danielle Hunters of the recruiting world.

Of course LSU could counter that possible move by hiring the Desoto HS coach as say the TE coach? The trade off would be losing Ensminger's familiarity with every Louisiana HS coach over the age of 65 and his brilliance in offensive game planning with Studrawa and Miles.
