>>>>>LSU has been recruiting at least one of these guys!
West loaded with top arms in '14
This year there are several quality options at quarterback, led by 5-star Keller Chryst. The class of 2013 wasn't especially deep at the position nationally, but the West had come big time arms.
Already in the early stages of 2014, it appears the West could be pretty well stocked with some big arms.
Here's a quick look at some of the top quarterbacks to keep an eye on early in the recruiting cycle.
Keller Chryst (Palo Alto, Calif.) - Chryst is arguably the top arm out West and already has some big offers. At this time, it appears Stanford and USC are going to battle for this elite signal caller. Neither program is thin at the position but it never hurts to continue adding quality depth.
Brandon Dawkins (Thousand Oaks, Calif. Oaks Christian) - Dawkins is also a big time playmaker at the quarterback position out West. Notre Dame is one of several schools showing heavy interest and currently appear a slight favorite. Don't be surprised when his offer list expands rapidly in the coming weeks.
Kyle Allen (Scottsdale, Ariz. Desert Mountain) - Allen is not a secret on the recruiting trail at this time. He's got some major offers and Ohio State has him on the short list as well. Oklahoma State and ASU also have an early jump on his recruitment.
Manny Wilkins (Novato, Calif. San Marin) - Wilkins, like the others has grabbed his share of early attention. Despite a lot of visits and letters, Wilkins hasn't opened it up with offers just yet. Oregon is on top right now and might be the team to beat for Wilkins if they offer.
Jalen Green (Gardena, Calif. Serra) - Green hails from super-power Serra which boasts elite D-1 talent year in and year out. He will be given every opportunity to shine in front of top college recruiters, which will likely yield him a score of offers this Spring.
JaJuan Lawson (Petaluma, Calif. Casa Grande) - Lawson has a few early offers, including Arizona at this time. He's likely just getting started and might be one of the most under-rated quarterbacks out West at this time. That won't last long once he hits the camp circuit.
K.J. Carta-Samuels (San Jose, Calif. Bellarmine Prep) - Samuels committed to Vanderbilt nearly 7 months ago and hasn't wavered. After the last few weeks of recruiting I'm reminded anything can happen, but at this time he looks solid to the 'Dores.
Dillon Sugg (Wenatchee, Wash.) - Sugg is up in the cozy confines of Wenatchee, Washington. His size at 6-foot-4, 210-pounds will likely earn him a good look once he hits the camp circuit.
Morgan Mahalak (Greenbrae, Calif. Marin Catholic) - Mahalak comes in behind Cal signee Jared Goff and will have his time to shine this season. He's getting a lot of early interest, including Oregon, Nebraska, Cal and more. His offer list should increase in the coming months.
Drew Doxtator (Henderson, Nev. Foothill) - The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Doxtator has a bit of an awkward throwing motion but a big arm. San Jose State has already offered but he could be in line for a spike in his recruitment this Spring also.
>>>>>The second guy on the list, Brandon Dawkins has had an interest in LSU and vice versa. In October he said LSU had "stepped up their interest" http://247sports.com/Article/2014-4-star-QB-Brandon-Dawkins-will-visit-ND-and-others-93587
Dawkins plays at the Clausen's old h.s. and at one time Casey was their OC. Don't know what's gone on since October other than Notre Dame and Bama visits.

Its going to be interesting to see what we do at the QB position this year. With Cam coming in, who does he target if anybody.
I would like for us to shoot for the moon unless that Isom kid has a great senior year. If our staff goes for the big targets and miss, then we will still be fine because we have Rettig/Jennings. Striking out and not signing a QB for 2014 shouldn't be damaging at all with the current depth.
