Has there ever been as many head coach positions open at major programs? 4 in the SEC....5 if the Pinkel rumor is true. Then we have NC State, Boston College, Purdue, Colorado, & Cal. At not so major programs, UTEP, W. Michigan, W. Illinois, & Idaho. May have missed a few but a lot of opportunities out there. Stud, are you listening?
Can't remember, ever, this many significant openings in the SEC. And we had recent changes at Vanderbilit and Texas A&M. Add to that, the introduction of Mizzou and the Aggies to the SEC. Then add the "difficulty multiplier" that 6 SEC teams were at 10-2 or better. Then add seven SEC coaching changes in two years.
Having stability and staying power in coaching can't be under-estimated - see Georgia, South Carolina, LSU, and Alabama.
There are at least ten openings at major programs - which means twenty to thirty programs will be affected.
It's as if it's a revolving door of new hope. If there ever was a better time to see Stud move on, it's now.
