to use the arm of Mett.. you dont see cannons like that come around too often. most of us understood how young and inexperienced we were early on at the QB, WR, and O-line positions.. I truly felt it would be the latter part of the season before we saw solid pass protection, crisp routes and catches, and accuracy by mett.. It seems to have come together so now the coaches need to spread defenses out and take advantage of Metts arm. He can make any throw on the field and can pick secondaries apart. I hope we see more of it against msu
Saturday night's performance leaves a great opportunity for us to build momentum for the remainder of the year, and into spring practice for a more balanced offense that can make the opposition have to defend the entire field. If we can continue to run an offense like the one we saw this weekend, I think it makes our running attack even more effective.
Where has this been all season? A lack of confidence in the O has hamstrung us for the entire season. A lack of commitment to Mett and the WRs has stymied our growth and development as an offense. Hopefully, we'll see a different look and philosophy for the rest of the year, but I will believe it when I see it.
it takes time to get such a young group to really get things together.. at no time early on did they ever show they were ready to put the game on their shoulders.. our strength was defense and rushing attack and thats how we could win.. now that they seem to be getting better and better the coaches should feel confident that they can carry the load.. two sophmores wr's, two freshman o-lineman, and a 1st yr starter in the sec.. it takes time.. look at AJ last year he was far from great until late in the year
I used to buy this philosophy. But, remind me again, isn't Johnny Manziel a freshman? How about Driskal at Florida? Point is, the only way to get better is to get experience. The coaches need to take chances and let them play. With the defense we have, we should have been taking chances and allowing this offense to grow and make mistakes. Hell, maybe we would not have lost to Florida had we just opened the playbook a little more. Other teams do not have near the defense to fall back on and they open their playbooks all the time to new freshman and Soph QB's. I think we have stymied the growth of Mettenberger and the WR's by not opening things up more early in the season. JMO though. I thought we looked good and have seen the development from Game to game.

Since when have driskell (who was awful as afreshman before injury) anf johnny beat ppl with their arm dropping back and picking defenses apart. They use athleticism running around and extending plays. Many young qb's can do that. But with a pure pocket passer who can't leave the pocket u have to depend more on good pass protection and timing routes. Apples to oranges. As soon as u keep either in pocket throwing timing routes they llook like avg first year qb' real quick
