What are your thoughts on the matchup with Clemson? What concerns you with Clemson's offense that averages 510-plus yards a game and is ranked in the Top 10 in total offense?
How do you like LSU's offense matched up against Clemson's defense that gives up over 400 yards a game?
Biggest concern is our secondary covering their wrs. Watkins is the guy everyone knows and that everyone fears but the Peake kid and the other wr are dangerous as well. We'll have to get pressure on Boyd and contain him when he breaks the pocket. I think our young guys can do well enough to win against those guys but if we don't get pressure and make Boyd rush his throws then it could be ugly for our secondary against those wrs. Top 2-3 group of wrs in the country and Boyd can get it to them if he has time. Dangerous game for us if we struggle in the secondary. With our offense's tendency to be wildly inconsistent and at times nonexistent, if we let them get a rhythm going in the passing game, things could get ugly. We can't get in a shootout with those guys.
We will dominate them in every phase of the game. Think Texas A&M 2010...
I don't think they will challenge us that much, if we come out motivated. Florida State dominated them and we are better than they are. I don't think they will be able to handle our running game at all and I want to see us take some shots down the field early. Watkins is special but if we play OUR game this one should not be close.
With so much youth on the O-Line, I expect the extra practice reps to really show against Clemson. This should be a preview of 2013. I expect our line to lean on Clemson's D-Line and Mett to show improvment with the additional practice. Our RBs should return to near complete health (except Blue). Down Hill is what I think it is called. Our D will be tested (think WVu 2011) but in the end, Just too much P&G Talent on both sides of the ball.
I'll give my prediction first: LSU 34-Clemson 21
Clemson O v LSU D: Clemson will shake free and will put 14 up in the first half but we will only allow 7 in the second half. Expecting huge numbers from Boyd and Watkins (ala WVU's Smith last year) but they won't be able to find the endzone. I think LSU is a +3 or +4 in the TO margin. I think we get way to much pressure on Boyd. He probably scrambles for 50 yards or so but it's empty yardage.
LSU O v. Clemson D: I think we ONLY score 34 because we ground and pound them for 80-90% of the second half. I think we lead something like 21/24 to 14 going into half and we come out pounding them in the second half. Mett will find a lot of success in the short to intermediates but, overall, it's the same LSU offense we have seen for the last 4-5 games.
I'll give everyone a Clemson take from one of my workout buddies. He said that their boards are genearlly thinking LSU 40-something to Clemson 20-something. He thinks that Clemson and LSU won't score as many points because LSU will look at the S.C. film and just pound the rock. Either way, Clemson fans are not overly hyped about their team's chances. Of course, this could change. This is just the mood the day after the announcment.
"You can learn more character on the two-yard line than anywhere else in life." - Former LSU Coach and AD Paul Dietzel
Tahj Boyd and Sammy Watkins is going to give our D fits if they played like they have played the last few weeks.
"That was Death Valley,". "That was the place where opponents' dreams come to die. Coach Les Miles after the LSU - South Carolina game.

Ahh, the trash talking is already beginning. Comments like that should only help fuel LSU's fire if they aren't looking forward to the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
