Just about every LSU guy on Twitter is reporting he will be declaring for draft or already has. MAN....the D is gonna look quite different next year.

I don't get this one at all. It really is a mass exodus.
I can't wait for next year just to see how this team will fair. It may be a great surprise, or it could be a rough, long season. Good thing we have a great class coming in!

Our 5th best defensive back on the team leaves early to get picked in the 5th round??
Aint no ice up in this brandy i just like to gomp it down, aint no running from the Cajun Mafia I most likely gun you down
Because the players are good, have responsibilities outside of football, and probably will not improve their draft stock by returning.
I don't think players are 'jumping ship'. We knew most of these players would leave in August. No surprises other than Wing and Ware.
Simon, honestly, could care less. The kid runs his mouth more than he plays football. I didn't really care for TM7 running his mouth, but at least he made plays.
How do you know he wouldn't benefit from another year? I think he would. Doesn't really matter now anyway. I'm excited about White!
Bring on Priest Willis....Yeah, eventually a Safety, but it will help LSU sell him, and/or get Ellis an offer....
It's not just about 'would he benefit from another year'. There are other consideration that you and I have no idea about and it would be very presumptuous of us to judge these kids on their decisions.
Between recruiting and players leaving early for the draft, the LSU fanbase shows it's myopic thinking and selfishness this time of year. The kids aren't making these decisions for the LSU football team or the fans; they're making it for themselves and their families. When they were recruited to LSU, they were told they could come to LSU, show out, and then go onto the NFL and that's what they're doing. That's one of the benefits of coming to LSU and one of our biggest recruiting tools. You can't be mad at anyone for that. It's just like the UK basketball team...Cal's biggest recruiting tool (other than being a slimy used car salesman) is also his program's biggest downfall.
Two children to feed will make you go get a real paying job!!!!!!!!!!! Just like alot of our underclassman once you have kids to feed you need to goto the NFL as fast as you can. In there minds they can always go back and finish school if the NFL does not work out.
Doubt the staff will offer Ellis even though he is tearing it up at the Under Armour practices. Isn't that something? A Louisiana kid tearing it up at a camp who is getting all kinds of recognition and praise but still doesn't have an offer from his in state school???
Good post. Sometimes we just need to be reminded of this.
Yea he has been talking about jumping to NFL since last season. Needs that money for his kids.
I find it humorous when we get upset over players declaring early for the draft, but at the same time expect us to sign over 25 guys for what would be 11 spots if all of the juniors stayed. The attrition of the junior class to the NFL really speaks to how well we have recruited. I would like us to sign classes full of guys who keep leaving after 3 years for the NFL. Its actually a good problem to have and it shows future recruits that we develop talent.
I have no issue with Simon leaving. He has to do what's best for him. Never will fault a young man for moving his life forward in a positive way. Do I think he's ready, no. That said, his measurables and athletic ability will blow away pro scouts. He'll do very well at the combine and in individual workouts. Perfect prospect for the beauty contest that is the leadup to the NFL draft. Also helps that this really isn't a strong draft particularly at CB. After Milliner and the USCe kid(who isn't impressive to me) there isn't a no brainer CB prospect with all the attributes physically that scouts want. Huge need for CBs with the size/athleticism combination that Simon possesses in the NFL. He goes no later than the 3rd but I'd venture he'll land in the 2nd with a shot at 1st if he really kills the combine and workouts.
Banks and Slay from State, Ammerson from NC state. Xavier Rhodes from Florida State. Desmond Trufant from Wash. Colvin and that other dude from Okla are all better than him IMO. I really find it hard to think that he will be an early draft pick.
Would love to hear the four guys better than Simon.....
If I even hear Jalen Collins that is a joke as Collins was AWFUL all year
Tharold may not have been Patrick Peterson or Mo Claiborne but he wasn't trash either and that's how some portray him. He is gonna be solid in the NFL.
Mills, Loston, and Reid for sure. Actually Collins and Tharold remind me a lot of each other. They were usually in pretty good position but could never make a play on the ball.
Best of luck to Tharold. I hope he does well in the NFL, and I am one who does not fault him, or any Tiger for that matter, for bettering themselves.
Proud to support everything Louisiana
