We have Mills and Collins as sophomores next year. Presuming Simin didn't make a decision he can't reverse, he should be back for his senior year but the buzz seemed to be for familial reasons his intent was for this to be his final season. We have Raymond and Thomas as redshirt freshmen. Obviously any hope of TM coming back went (cough) up in smoke.
It would seem to me that a JUCO CB would be a good fit from a depth chart standpoint? Even Saban had to go the JUCO route with Belue to fill a depth chart, and as it turned out, starting need.
Any buzz at all of LSU looking that direction?
They looked at Riyhad Jones but doesn't look like anything is going to progress from there.
I don't think they really need to go for a JC CB, especially since they feel Tre'Davious White will play as a true freshman then you have Rashard Robinson and Rickey Jefferson at corner with the possibility of Jeryl Brazil there too. Not to mention with Artie Burns and Priest Willis still out there.
Thanks Sonny. Although I don't think he progressed anywhere near being a lockdown corner, if Simon comes back the numbers would work. If he doesn't come back, that's an awfully young CB crew?
Aint no ice up in this brandy i just like to gomp it down, aint no running from the Cajun Mafia I most likely gun you down
I am with Sonny. I think that with Simon back (can't imagine that draft stock is soaring in the right direction), they would have a nice younger crop to work with and would probably just roll with that.
4. T. White (true freshman)
5. D. Thomas
6. D. Raymond
That is plenty of depth and none of them will be carrying a redshirt, so everyone will be getting reps.
I have a little more concern at safety. What happens if/when Reid goes pro? Micah Eugene isn't a guy they completely trust at safety and he would now be in the two-deep.

Any chance T White could play other secondary spots, or is he a true corner?
Would any of the freshmen make an immediate impact at either safety spot? Cutrer (sp) depending on grades? Is he the kind of talent to make the two deep for next fall?
I can see the concern with the 2-deep at safety if Reid goes pro. But, I'd be more concerned with the 1-deep if Simon goes pro and arguably still concerned even if he comes back based upon the play of the corners the last half of the season.
If Loston also goes pro, then maybe my concern shifts to safety, otherwise, I see Loston and Martin at safety with Eugene and Thompson in the 2-deep. Personally, I believe Jalen Collins may very well end up at safety as he is getting toasted at corner and seems to be growing into the safety position size-wise.
At corner, IF Simon doesn't come back, you basically have Mills (who the staff seems to prefer at the nickley) and Collins (see above) and a bunch of true freshmen and redshirt freshmen who haven't played a down of SEC football. If Simon comes back, you have him and the nickel Mills and hope that either/or Collins is better than what he has shown the last half of the season or one of the true or redshirt freshmen is ready for SEC play from the get go.
I think it's a big plus that they at least have reps now. The worry that you have for Thomas/Raymond/White is the same worry I'm sure you had with Mills and Collins to start this season.
I think if Simon leaves, it will eventually shuffle out as T. White and J. Mills as the top cornerbacks with Collins coming in as a nickel guy and Mills sliding inside.
