Wow - I just checked the 247 composite ratings on the SEC teams and was stunned to see Arkansas in a free fall to about position #64? Behind Kentucky, Vandy, Ole Miss, and Miss State.
I'm sure they'll improve on this by NSD but there's a helluva lot of work to be done in Fayetteville.
I guess we could call this the Petrino fallout or fall down. Glad I don't have to live on one of their boards.

Bielma is know to not be a very good recruiter so this isn't surprising. He's gonna find out quick he has to be a good x and o coach and just as good of a recruiter. You can't lack in either one and compete with the big boys.
225 on fire. I'm a Southern Jag, LSU Tiger. I mean that.- Lyrical genus Mouse on Tha Track
I just dont get how they can dump Blanchard (a HUGE position of need) and Skinner. They NEED players right now and just got rid of 2 of their best commits. They are sitting at 13 commits, THIRTEEN. What, do they play to add 10-12 by NSD? And better RBs/TEs than those guys?
Paul Mainieri = 358-147 ovr (70.9%), 136-100 SEC (57.6%), 21-10 NCAA (67.7%), 3 CWS App., 2 SEC Titles, 1 National Title
Seems predictable to me. Think about it, even at his best, Petrino was Not ever gonna have the defensive horses needed to truly compete year end year out. They would score a lot of points against sub par teams, and ultimately lose to good teams with depth.
That being said, Arkansas now has a bigger problem__their recruiting base. Arkansas Had a strong presence in Texas and Missouri mainly due to the fact that there were no SEC schools in those states, and their proximity to those states. Now, Arky will find it Much harder to recruit...especially in Texas. A&M is gonna put a hurting on them. The state has little talent to pull from as it is, and with Ark. St. on the rise, and seemingly the best recruits usually ending up at either Bama or Auburn, I don't see their fortunes improving.
They are all in for Alex Collins and Altee Tenpennie (sp?) at RB.
Bielema is going after his kind of guys, which is different from what they were recruiting before. I think its smart for him to take a smaller class this year, just like Sumlin did in 2012, then bring in a big class next year, when he's had a full year to recruit.
Not to change the subject, but it seems like A LOT of teams will be behind ole piss when it's all said and done according to the 247 moderators. I saw something yesterday where they predicted where a bunch of 5 star kids were going, and they had something like four going to ole piss.
I'm with NE on this one. Let's face it, kids committing to Arkansas and John L. Smith were doing so either out of a a) a devotion to the school or b) because they didn't have alot of other (SEC) options. Having a lameduck HC (and staff) on a 10 month contract is probably the worst possible atmosphere for recruiting.
Bielema is going to have to discard his haughty we don't do those type of things in the Big 10 attitude now that he is in the SEC. Someone else was correct when they mentioned that A&M joining the SEC is going to have an effect on Arkansas' Texas recruiting, but its not as if Arkansas was getting 4* and 5* kids out of Texas anyway, most were staying in the Big 12 and the few that left were going to LSU or elsewhere.
I heartily agree that Tenpennee is THE key recruit for Bielema. Local kid, strong RB, can't let him get away, much less to another SEC west school.
Seeing this makes me laugh because Arkansas fans are always the first to point out how their program is in the top 10 as far as most valuable. The thing is they don't realize it doesn't mean anything if they don't recruit and perform well on the field.
Agree that Teppeny is a BIG recruit for Arky, and most think they have a real good chance at flipping him... they better hope they do!
As for Ole Miss, they look like they will definitely finish strong. We've discussed RN recruitment enough already, but they are in the picture for a lot of uncomitted top recruits. They will most likely get Tony Connor, Treadwell, and Elijah Daniel; and they are still in on Montravious Adams, Tunsil, and Lawson (even though I doubt they get either of those last 3). But if they can land RN, Connor, Treadwell, and Daniel to go along with already comitted somewhat "sleeper" players in Kalio Moore, Chucky Williams, Christian Morgan, and Devante Kincade... that is pretty incredible for Ole Miss recruiting.
Proud to support everything Louisiana
Not that surprising when you consider that for the entire season, none of the prospects knew who the head coach would be. I'm not sure how ANY parents, unless diehard Arkansas fans, would let their kids commit to a school when you have no idea who the coach was going to be.
I laughed when Deondre Skinner talked about how he felt like he fit into "their system". Surely, he know that system would likely change.
We have only have 12 commits, Not sure what is so shocking. JLS allowed kids to commit that shouldn't have been allowed to commit.
Lamar Jordan - Cut by Bielema, commits to New Mexico
Mitchell Bell - Cut by Bielema, commits to LaTech
Kaleb Blanchard - Cut by Bielema, no new offers
Dee Skinner - Cut by Bielema, commits to Houston
Tyler Cogswell - Cut by Bielema, likely headed to Western Kentucky
Jervenski Johnson - Cut by Bielema, no new offers
Marcus Robinson was a keeper, but is headed to JUCO.
We've got alot of really good visitors coming in the final three weekends, and more will likely be added as we go along. We're in good shape with OL Reever Koehler, DT Monty Nelson, WR Corey Cooper, LB Skai Moore and WR Devon Allen. We'll also likely add Lorenzo Woodley and Daryl Chestnut should we offer both.
Bielema will probably try and pull a Sumlin. Get as good a players possible from now until NSD and then sign a huge class for '14.
This makes sense for sure... but is it commonplace to cut so many comitted players when a new HC is hired? I know Bielema isnt making too many friends down here in LA already
My first thought here was...."Wow, Beilema is a total dick"
With all due respect, I think you're going to see some tough sledding over the near future.
Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Missouri, SEC members with energy and on your borders, will compete for some of the kids you used to get.
I would assume some of those John L. Smith recruits were recruited by some of Petrino's competent staff.
Bielema strategy may be similar to Sumlin's. But he may burn some bridges he can't rebuid. I give him four years before he is dismissed back to the Big Ten
All good wishes except for that game with LSU.
