Do u think vadal Alexander will start at right tackle next season ? in my opinion he looks to be more of a guard.also who are some others to watch out for at that position?
Vadal will be at RT until he leaves. One bad game doesn't discount the GREAT, truly GREAT. TRUE, I repeat TRUE FRESHMAN campaign.
Agree, couldn't have said it any better excpet adding in another TRUE
i think the line was horrible this year in most of its games and was one of our weak links along with corners so i would had the Hawaiian in there somewhere and pocic.
staff: With all the new guys coming in who do you think wins out the starting line positions can you guess at the depth chart including the guys who will be freshman.
Did you not see the South Carolina game? OL played well the 2nd half of the season, until last night.
C-Porter or Fanaika
RG-Turner or Williford
Alexander had one bad game against a guy in Goodman that has always been very talented but had underachieved for the most part. Vadal has a very bright future but will always have some issues with guys like Goodman that move well. Should have been more help for Vadal last night after the 1st couple of times he got beat. Who else is gonna start at RT? The options are younger or just as young with less experience than Vadal.
Edinburgh-doesn't move as well as Vadal and would've gotten slaughtered las night as well
Hawkins-probably a better talent than Vadal and conceiveably could be the RT but is he going to be ready and does the staff forego the plans to groom him as the future LT
Pocic-no different than Alexander's situation as far as lack of experience. He'd be put in a bad spot if starting.
Vadal will be fine. If worse comes to worst then just move Lael over to RT and move Vadal to LG. Not sure that would've helped last night. Goodman was on another level and took advantage of a kid that wasn't ready for his athletic ability.
Our OL next year will be amazing. This offense has no excuse next year. Returning starters at all major positions except center and huge depth.
Just need Porter or Fanaika to come along at Center, and we should be solid... also hope no more injuries to our key guys, and hope Faulk returns to pre-injury form
Proud to support everything Louisiana
I think Alexander did a really good job this year but I'd be all for him and Collins to switch places.
Aint no ice up in this brandy i just like to gomp it down, aint no running from the Cajun Mafia I most likely gun you down
LT: Chris Faulk
LG: La'el Collins
C: Elliot Porter
RG: Trai Turner
RT: Vadal Alexander
I see Josh Williford as a utility guy that gets used at either tackle or guard. They will have an injury at some point, so that's a big benefit to have him.
"I guess you've just gotta find something you love to do and then... do it for the rest of your life." - Max Fisher
2013 OL 2-deep, as prepared by a true expert (me):
LT: Chris Faulk; Jerald Hawkins
LG: La'el Collins; Fehoko Fanaika
Center: Elliott Porter; Trai Turner (just a guess here - backup Center is a big question)
RG: Trai Turner; Josh Williford
RT: Vadal Alexander; Jerald Hawkins
I've got Trai Turner as the most likely first man in at Center if Porter goes down, but that's just a guess because I'm not sure anyone knows how that would really work out. I can clearly see Dodd and Malone both getting long looks at Center in August. It's really unfortunate that neither of them will be here in the Spring.
I've got Jerald Hawkins as the first man in at either tackle position in the event of injury.
Current roster guys I'm unsure where to slot: Chris Davenport, Derek Edinburgh, Jonah Austin, Evan Washington.
True Freshmen: I think Pocic will work at both Tackle positions, but they may try him out at RT with a chance to be Alexander's primary back up there, with Hawkins working primarily as Faulk's backup at LT. I think both Dodd and Malone will split time working at Center and one of the Guard spots. Boutte will work at Guard, but have no idea which side, initially.
I know Miles mentioned that going into the bowl game, but I have never seen even an inkling of evidence that Williford has enough lateral mobility to play tackle in the SEC. He's barely mobile enough to play right Guard. Even then, when he has played right Guard, we've been a heavily right-handed running team because he's not a guy you want to ask to pull a lot.
That didn't stop them from playing Josh D. at LT all year
Paul Mainieri = 328-135 ovr (70.8%), 119-89 SEC (57.2%), 21-10 NCAA (67.7%), 3 CWS App., 1 National Title
Williford like T Bob will not be asked to play OT, his utility will be left and right guard and possibly center
Once Josh D got healthy (South Carolina game), he was a very solid LT for this team. Comparing Josh D and Josh W in terms of athleticism and lateral mobility is not even close. Even with the knee injuries, Dworaczyk is a much more athletic guy than Williford. Williford may be a stronger, more physical guard, but Dworaczyk always had plenty of athleticism.

Seeing as we're losing Downs and maybe Logan, and Davenport not seeming to make any headway on the OL, I wonder if there's been any consideration to move him back to DT...
Color me unimpressed with Josh D at tackle (And guard for that matter). He played as best he could I'm sure, but was nothing special.
Kind of unreal Stud has coached 14 guys now who have not left the program early under him and only 2 of them have ended up in the NFL. Josh D., PJ Lonergan and Alex Hurst all not going to the NFL
While I agree whole heartedly with the dissapointment in Stud's ability to develop offensive linemen, I think there is a decent shot Dworaczyk and Lonergan get drafted.
Dworaczyk has ZERO shot. He's not listed by anyone. Couple that with the fact he was always a mediocre undersized guard and now a mediocre OT with 2 bad knees.
Lonergan has a very, very small shot. It's sad because pre-season places were saying 5th-7th round, now they say undrafted.
Yea no way JD gets drafted with those knees... I think he will eventually be a good Ol coach though... maybe he can be a GA for the Tigers next year
