So I figured I would share this with you all just because I'm so glad that Saturday is here and it's a new day.
Was at the morning practice on Friday and rushed off to try and help our Nebraska site with a story before the afternoon practice kicked in and after a 15-minute drive to Starbucks I realized I didn't have my bag with my computer, 2 cameras, thumb drive, recorders, and everything else. Basically, my whole life, minus the wife and kids in the bag.
So, I rush back over in lunch traffic, only to find that my bag was nowhere to be found. Couldn't get anyone on the phone for an hour to see if they picked it up or if it was stolen or what. Miserable hour.
I got a call saying that one of the female trainers picked it up so I was so happy that I went to Applebee's to grab a burger before the afternoon practice.
My phone was dying so I set it up on this jukebox that was hung on the wall to charge and the phone falls behind the jukebox that just so happens to have no opening on the bottom or either side. About an 18" drop with about a 2" opening on top and 1" on the bottom.
Took 45 minutes of me and the manager lying trying to walk it up with a coat hanger when finally I went outside and borrowed a yard sign from Verizon that I was able to get into the crack at the bottom and finally was able to walk the phone up to the top and get a hold of it.
Only thing going through my mind on both occasions was how am I going to get all of my contact numbers and spreadsheets for work on recruits and my wife is going to kill me because that was about a $3K loss between the two fumbles.
So glad Friday is gone and today is a new day
It helped a lot HaHa
Murphy's law was in full effect!!
Oh the challenges that everyday life brings! Lol
lol...sorry for your troubles but glad to see that I'm not the only one these things happen to. Hope you have a great Saturday!
If you get tired of covering sports, you could make a living doing some disaster reporting. I was crossing fingers and toes until I got to the end of both near catastrophes.
Bet you were beating yourself up pretty badly on that drive back to the practice facility. If not swearing then praying.
I don't care how cool a QB is, staying calm in the pocket after that kind of mistake would rattle the best of us.
Sonny, welcome to my world.
66, where you been? I took you off of ignore because it look like you fell off of the Earth or something???
Sorry for the mishap. Just got a text from Shea who sad his night was worse. He got in the shower only to realize he was out of conditioner. Then, half way through his styling he ran out of Gel and the hair dryer burnt up right after his brush fell in the toilet. Shea was later found crouched in a corner hugging his burnt up hair dryer and his empty hair gel. See Sonny, things could have been worse.
That was some good stuff man.....Put a big ole smile on my face cause I just pictured him in the corner:)
