I never hear anything about him.... Just asking
apparently he's a good cook... just saying.
seriously though, I don't think this thread is going to end well.

Well, we can start by what he doesn't provide: recruiting and development. He at best is a caretaker for the actual recruiting assistants and Les Miles until they can land the recruit. He hasn't developed a TE at LSU since he's been here.
But, obviously Miles isn't the only one who sees value in him. Tuberville loved him. Kept him at Auburn despite his recruiting/development deficiencies and tried to bring him on at Texas Tech in an administrative position until the full-time assistant gig came about at LSU.
My SUSPICION is all joking about the BBQ prowess aside is that he is Miles right hand man/gopher. The equivalent of a CEO's executive assistant/gatekeeper.
I don't believe every assistant position coach has to be an ace recruiter. But, if they aren't, I sure wish they were an accomplished developer of talent.
Apparently he does something or he wouldn't be here. Nobody knows what goes on in the program or what everyone does.
He has as many/more connections and respect with La high school football coaches than almost any assistant out there including Frank.
I honestly just think hes the team cook. DEAD SERIOUS ....

What area did he come from and I am gonna guess that is the area that he has his connections with. I would also think that with coaches retiring and younger blood taking over his connections would dwindle. I am just asking I have no problems with him as a coach or anyone on the staff. Just was curious about what he brings to the table.
He was an LSU quarterback from 76-79. I believe he coached at Nichols State among his many stops.
He was the passing game coordinator at Smiths Station High School when LSU hired him. Enough said.
Enter the crybabies who insist that every post is positive just like they liked it on Tigerbait in 2000 when they could get anyone who was negative banned.

He is what they call a "Yes Man"
Danielle Hunter, Jamario Rasco, Anthony FREAK Johnson.. DL wrecking crew of 2013.
Is this still funny?
If you think Ensminger is a gopher, you are sadly mistaken. What exactly he does, I don't know, but I know enough about the guy to know he isn't gophering for anyone!
Wrong Lesticals. I know for a fact that after one game last year, as Miles does weekly, Miles asked for suggestions. Ensminger said that should rest the players one day so they could get their legs back. Miles skipped him like it wasn't said. He brought it up again and Miles said, no rest. Next idea. This was during 2011 season.
I am not sure of his value as a coach, but yall are dead wrong about who he is as a person.
If he isn't gophering for Miles his only option is high school offensive coordinator. He doesn't have a lot of options.
Ok.. I think you're not understanding what a "Yes man" is.
A buddy of mine played for him at Auburn. He said that Ensminger is one of the coolest coaches he ever had. Apparently, the players really respected him and he has great connections at the high school level.
Although he isn't the most dynamic or contributing coach we have on the staff, he is a LSU man and for that he garners my respect. However, it seems like he would be better served in an administrative role instead of a full time positions coach.
My take is the stakes are too high and the consequences too severe to "carry" anybody.
He has to serve some purposeful role whether fans "get it" or not.
I just remember Steve as a LSU QB. I wonder who Ensminger "hangs with" on the LSU staff? And I have to believe he has connections to Louisiana HS coaches whether posters here discount that or not.
Thank you for posting this. If true (And I believe you), that's great information and a cool story from a kid that played for him.
well that warrants being TE coach, certainly
Miles keeps him around to piss off the LSU fanbase and intentionally gives Saban a leg up on him so he can lose on purpose IMO
Proud to support everything Louisiana
Miles has stated in several interviews over the past several years that Ensminger is the best on staff at breaking down game film. This holds a two fold purpose: game planning for future opponents and in recruiting.
Thanks, I have wondered myself since so many seem convinced that he brings no value.

I wonder where the Offensive Coordinator at Smiths Station High School is now.
Do you ever bring anything to this board or just whine like a teenage girl when she finds out another girl has her dress??
Funny what spell check changed your name to.
You act like all Ensminger has ever done is coach high school ball. The played QB at LSU and for the saints plus he has had multiple college coaching jobs.
I hear no tight end development, yet I hear people say nick Jacobs was just coming into his own before the suspension.
Now show us your credentials to criticize!
