Who do you guys think Chavis would ride at LB after the freshmen we've seen come through this year? It definitely depends on whether or not Kevin Minter goes pro for middle linebacker, but I don't even think Tahj Jones will start when he comes back for his senior year.
I would go with Deion Jones, Kevin Minter, Kwon Alexander. I hope Lamar Louis still gets a chance at middle linebacker if Minter leaves because that might be our best lineup. Chavis could build that up for the future.

I think Feist steps in at MLB if/when Minter leaves and Louis stays outside. This group will be amazing.

I am not so sure about this. Remember Louis will be battling it out with Muncie next spring for 3rd string at the SAM position when Kwon and T Jones are back. Kwon looked better than any freshman linebacker I have seen LSU even including the 1999 season. If he continues it sure takes the sting away from the two Alabama took from us in the same class. I would love to see Debo get on the field more and I really pulling for him to win the WILL spot next year. I have seen him make two or three plays this year that I have not seen linebackers at LSU ever make. He is like a missile out there. I was not impressed with Feist play when he got in vs UF. I know it was his first serious test but if Minter leaves I think you are almost forced to move Louis there to push Feist and for one to provide depth. However I see Minter staying. Wish we would have red-shirted Phillips. That is very strange how all these good linebackers came out of the same Louisiana class. I believe the only two linebackers to be drafted in the past 15 years from Louisiana are Bradie James and Rufus Alexander (6th round and only spent a few days on an active roster and never got in a game). It's kind of funny our two draft picks at linebacker since James in Riley and Sheppard were not even considered the best two linebackers on their Stephenson team that year by recruiting experts. Marcus Ball and Jermaine Cunningham same class and both linebackers at Stephenson were rated much higher then them.
Lamin Barrow has played pretty well this year and my money is on him having a spot. Minter has one if he comes back then you're looking at a dogfight for the 3rd spot between Tahj Jones, Kwon Alexander and Lamar Louis. My money would be on Alexander at this point.
Kwon was looking great before he got hurt..gotta like him if he comes back all right.
I'd like to see Barrow at MLB if Minter leaves. He's just a step slow in the open field against speed teams and Debo Jones needs to get on the field.

I see your point compared to the speed of Debo and Kwon. I could see him at Mike LB too, but Barrow will be on the field somewhere in my opinion.
I assume that Feist would be next in line at MLB because he already has the body for it. The rest still need to add some weight including Barrow and Jones. The MLB needs to make it through the entire game receiving blows from the FB and HB. That's why I think it is best to have a guy who is closer to the 240 pound range manning that position.
If Minter leaves then Chavis will have some decisions to make in the spring Shea:
does he go with Fiest and Welter, or does he try Barrow inside to get more of his speed guys on the outside? I bet we see a lot of combos this spring. I also think Dickson to FB would be a GREAT move. He blocked well vs MSU....
I forgot about Barrow coming back when I was running through the younger guys. He will definitely start at OLB after his play this season. Hopefully Kwon comes back on the other side and Minter stays in the middle.
One thing to watch next year will be whether Chavis mixes and matches LB's based on the offense's personnel groupings. We may very well see different LB groupings against pass-heavy teams and run-heavy teams. I assume Minter will be on the field anytime he's healthy, but the guys on either side of him may change in the various defensive packages, based on who's the best against the run, coverage and blitzing.
Good point and vs spread teams I would imagine we could see a 3 LB set of Barrow/Jones/Kwon/Debo/Muncie.
