Duke Riley or Darian Claiborne
I think both will be great players. I was just wondering what others thought.

That's a good question and would love to hear what others think.
We had Claiborne #15 and Riley #16 in the state so can't get much closer than that.
A look at Geaux247s final Top 100 in the Bayou State for 2013.
Claiborne. No offense to Riley at all.
Isn't Claiborne a bit small? I heard size was an issue with Riley but then he got bigger in his senior year.

Riley, because having both Riley and Dillon Gordon on the roster can only help with Malachi Dupree and Kenny Young in this next class.
Thats a good point, but honestly as a player alone, I think they are both the same type of playmaker but Riley is bigger so I would say it is a wash.

I don't think Riley is bigger. Both are in the 6'0" - 6'1" range, but Claiborne looks 10-20lbs heavier to me with a decidedly thicker build.
Riley ... Imo has better instincts which cannot be taught on the field.
Riley is taller and has a wider frame.
I've heard that Claiborne may be a tad under 6' tall and that Riley has grown quite a bit. Maybe Sonny/Shea have seen them both in person recently.
I've seen that too. I saw online that Claiborne shrunk when he committed to Texas A&M and Riley grew when LSU offered the greyshirt opportunity. That's usually how it works. Players shrink when LSU misses or passes on them and grow when LSU wants them and they commit to the Tigers.
I have seen Claiborne in person and I am 6'.05" tall on the dot, and I was taller than him but it was close. He is just under 6' if I had to guess, prolly like 5'11.5". Riley looks 6'2" in pads and cleats, I haven't seen him eye to eye like Claiborne but he looks to be a true 6'1"
Maybe, but that differential is really meaningless when it comes to performing at LB. Put another way, I think Claiborne is taller than Ryan Baker.
Haha, yeah that is usually the case but I'm being honest here. I may be wrong on Riley but looking at him an Kenny Young next to each other on the field there is not a noticeable difference and I'm sure Young is a true 6'2".
Well I have stood next to both of those guys and I would say they are pretty close comparisons all the way around. And I agree that it is a marginal difference but doesn't everyone always want an extra inch.....
Thanks for the first hand info.
When just about everything else is quite even, size does matter. If it doesn't then why do they care so much at the NFL combine? If one is clearly better than the other on the playing field, then I'll take talent over size.
Riley has about an inch to an inch and a half on Claiborne. Claiborne is thicker but Riley has the frame to add some good weight.
Awilco2 is spot on.....Claiborne is a tad under 6-0 and Riley is a legit 6-1.
