That's an easy thing for a message board poster with no consequences for the decision to say. But if you're the AD at LSU and your own job security is largely tied to the success of the football program, I don't think letting Les Miles go to a divisional opponent is a roll of the dice you'd be willing to make.
My #1 concern is the ongoing success of the LSU program. Of ALL the coaches available, I think Miles is the surest best to continue that success. There are other great coaches out there, but I don't see anyone that I think is a more sure bet to continue LSU's current string of success than Miles.
If You go in to a negotionation with that attitude you better bring a big check book with you...
We struggled this year against them. Last year they were a top ten team and we dominated them. Arkansas has been very good in recent years so close games were expected. They want him because outside of Saban there are very few that could match (if any) what he has accomplished. They would be estatic to land a coach who consistently recruits in the top 10 and puts top 10 teams on the field year in and year out..imo..
Let me rephrase my previous statement...I don't think a raise to the level of the Arkansas offer is warranted!
THIS is a TERRIFIC post!!! Why, because I agree with it? No!!! Because this person apparently speaks of experience not emotion!!! What Joe A. did was make a sound business decision. Those of you that say you would've let Les walk for the pittance of a raise (comparatively speaking that is) he got are, in my opinions fools and I wouldn't want to work for you for TWO reasons.
1. Ya'll expect too much!
2. Well, I said it earlier; ya'll are, in MY opinion, .........................fools. The ship would sink with ya'll at the helm..............in MY humbled opinion. And, "I", don't wanna be a part of a sinking ship!!!
"It's my hometown, and that's big for me," Henry said. "It's about playing for the home team in front of family
