Just to bring some clarity to this, there was an article written on Friday in The Advocate about Russell Shepard's career at LSU, pointing out in large part that he didn't live up to expectations.

One day later, Miles takes to the podium for the first time and - without any questions being asked - just unleashed with his thoughts. Good stuff.

Play calling AND execution are much better starting with the bama game. Unfortunately the defensive played has moved in the other direction since then.

You are so pitiful. I love the way our coach cares about and sticks up for his players. While I sometimes get frustrated with some coaching decisions on the field, I never question Coach Miles' feelings and devotion to his players or my alma mater. He is who he is and I am happy that Les Miles is the coach at LSU. You criticize LSU coaches in other sports. Just pick another school to root for and be happy.

I guess you could give Miles an A for acting........he pre-emptied any question about his plan, or lack thereof!

He pulled this drama before the SEC-CG, when his pants were down with Michigan.

He did it because Skip called his hand......and he'd probably never admit to being caught, and how he brokered it into a raise. He did win the NC that year.

He has pulled stunts since, that too resulted in a hefty raise and "allowed light to shine upon his first love, Michigan."

Last night, despite all the improvements we witnessed vs Alabama (loss) and MSU (win), he resumed his normal m.o. and laid an egg.

Hat wears many hats....his speech was inauspicious and ordinary.....but the easily-duped think its SPLENDIFEROUS! BFD

Not going to be nice. You are an idiot and probably never even played beyond little league. If you had, you would know that his actions MAKE you feel like doing anything for that man. Before you go all half cocked and imply the same for me, you would be wrong! I played in college for a coach that reminds me a lot of Miles. My offensive line coach....Don Shows! To this day, I would do anything for him. I would be willing to say most of Miles' players are the same. I would have loved to have played for that man! It's called "players" coach.

Another example of why I'm very proud to call Les Miles the leader of our LSU football program. Sure there are things to complain about with him but that's the case with any coach. I couldn't think of a better man and better leader to have heading our program. Think about the current status and standing of our program. It's never been in better shape than it is currently. From talent to organization, the LSU football program is in the best position it has ever been in. Saban deserves all the credit for building the foundation but where Les has taken the program is as good as any coach could've done. We're in the golden years of the program and I hope all of you are cherishing it and really grasping the era that we're in right now. It will not be this way forever so take it in while it lasts.

Do I want more? Yes! Will Les work on things and get even better? I hope so. Will I let my desire for more make me miserable with this incredible run LSU is on? Absolutely not. I strive to never let the perfect be the enemy of the good. They are companions, not rivals, for our affections.
