I was flipping through his magazine and usually he has pretty solid picks, and I don't know if its been discussed but most of us would agree that the winner of the bama - lsu game will play usc for the title, but this guy has Oklahoma and Florida state playing for the title with lsu playing Michigan state in the sugar bowl and Alabama vs Texas in the fiesta bowl. I think the guy went off the deep end with his picks this year.

It doesn't do anything for him to go with the popular picks. If Okie or FSU do happen to make it to the championship game he will be able to say that he picked them when almost nobody else did. If they both lose 3 or 4 games then he just won't talk about how badly he missed on that...he will just say that he predicted that Alabama...LSU...USC...or whoever were going to be among the top teams in the country.

I don't buy his magazine because all he talks about is numbers and stats from years ago. All I want to know about is what is happening for the upcoming year, and he doesn't provide much of that. He says his magazine has the most information of all but only because he uses the same stuff over and over. You can probably find something about Rohan Davey in the new mag.

Thats hilarious......or maybe Josh Booty....lol. Good points. I dont listen to any pre season hype any more. USC in the NC this year is a joke, as is the PAC 10.

I don't know what USC accomplished to even be in the hype this year. I know they will be good, and I know I'm an LSU homer, but how could you honestly pick against LSU this year in the preseason. They have the best returning team of all of them but are not in the championship game at all, that just baffles me. What's the craziest of all is they have Michigan St. playing LSU in the Sugar Bowl. Michigan St. was good last year but they lost Kirk Cousins, so how are they worthy of a BCS bowl when they have never been to one anyway. And then Texas playing bama in the Fiesta Bowl. Texas has barely been bowl eligible for the last two years and he is saying they will make the BCS. That is crazy man.
By the way Firny nice to see you starting to post on here. Always loved your opinions on TB though most of those guys did not lol.

It's preseason - hopes run high. All the guy does here is pick a trifecta that helps sell his unneeded product.
Think about it - USC, FLA State, Michigan State, LSU, Bama, and Texas. Somewhere buried here are a couple of contenders and plenty of subscribers.
In the old days, if LSU got a few crumbs from Steele, I was happy. Those days are gone forever.

If you want a laugh, look at his All American Teams. He has Montgomery and Mingo as the two top Defensive Ends in America. However, Sam is Second Team All American and Mingo not on the first four. In fact, Mingo does not make first team SEC. Go figure.

He said in a chat that he caters to the teams with the most subscribers.. The last 3 years his stuff has COMPLETELY fallen off the face of the Earth.
His stuff is a complete JOKE.
Did you know that his All-SEC team had Duron Carter on First or 2nd team? Dude doesn't even play for Bama anymore.
It's ridiculous now, it really is.. Dude sold out, no doubt about it

I enjoy Athlon and Lindy's much better than his magazine, but I have all the LSU info I need here. Usually I only get them as something to gauge the other teams in the SEC.

You boys are getting too wrapped around the axle here. Phil sells his products to betting junkies (like me) who like to look at past trends and then also appeal to the pre-season nerds. Hes just throwing crap against the wall for bowl predictions and all america teams.
Just look at will blackwell last year. He got lots of pub for all sec and all america lat seaon but that did not equate to NFL draft status. Just b/c Mingo and Montgomery are the best rated NFL prospects at their positions does not mean they will put up the required pinball numbers to warrant all america status. You can win the beauty contest to be an aa and not get nfl love.
