The closest room we could get is 30 or 40 miles away so we will have to drive in on game day.
We are worried about traffic and parking so any help you can give will be appreciated.

I second the Free Birds recommendation, definitely my favorite of the Burrito joints. I see that College Station also has a Raising Canes now so that should make some feel at home.

What time can we arrive to tailgate? I showed up at a Texas Tech vs Nebraska game with friends and found out that they would only let us in 3 hours before game time and it was a dry county. Refreshments had to be bought at the strip outside of town and put into a red solo cup while on campus. Info like that would be good.

Of course, College Station will be awesome for me! I am excited about the chance to tailgate with some of the latest additions to the Southeastern Conference and enjoy the whole Kyle Field experience!

Daigle, where in Texas can you buy liquor at a gas station? All I've ever seen is beer, at least in SETX. Like TigerBlood said you have to go to liquor stores for the hard stuff.

Northgate is where a lot of the college bars are located. The Dixie Chicken is a Aggie institution and should be experienced. Follow the masses after the game north. Hotels will be packed and I'm sure sold out a year in advance. I've heard people having luck with bed and breakfasts. If you have to stay out of town, might look at Franklin. Historic town with lots of antique stores, B&B's, couple of nice restaurants. Haven't seen it mentioned, so I will: if you're looking for upscale restaurants, The Republic (best steakhouse I've been to, including Las Vegas, KC, and NY), Christopher's World Grill, Madden's.

The group I tailgate with starts setting up before 8:00 most gamedays. There won't be any beer sold at the game, but plenty of kegs and liquor at tailgates. You'll probably get offered a beer or two even if you're wearing purple, if you strike up a conversation. Most tailgating occurs on the west side of campus.

Parking's a bit of a problem. TAMU is a REALLY big campus. Lots/parking garages close to Kyle Field will fill up very early. Don't be surprised if you have to walk a ways if you are getting there 2 hours before kickoff. They do a pretty good job of getting cars on/off campus, though.

A&M guy here, just saw this and figured I would give my two cents. As far as RV parking, I know people that do it, and you can probably find rules and stuff online, but I know there are specific locations around the baseball stadium and some parking lots not too far from Kyle field.

Northgate is probably a good bet for a drink and great food at the Dixie Chicken. Greasy burgers, sausage cheese and crackers, other sandwhiches and snacks and plenty of beer. They only serve beer and a sangria drink for the ladies but next door is the Dry Bean Saloon with any kind of shot you want. Antonio's Pizza is great pizza by the slice, especially at 2am. Chicken Oil is owned by the Dixie Chicken and is a little off northgate, but all the great food in a more restaurant atmosphere with plenty of character.

Places to eat, Freebirds is great, Koppe Bridge has amazing burgers, C&J's BBQ has my favorite BBQ in the area but J Codys BBQ has unlimited sides and is good too. Shipley's Donuts are great early morning breakfast, and there is a nice little steak place that is pretty good in Bryan called the Longhorn Tavern. Sodolaks is also a great steakhouse with big portions and great chicken fried steak. If you are up early enough or get in town early, there is a great diner in the small town of Wellborn about 15 minutes from Kyle field and the Hullabaloo Diner has great breakfast. Fuego is another good taco place and pretty casual, La Bodega is close to northgate with some great drinks (shakers) and seafood tacos, if you like sushi, Naked Fish is good. Downtown Bryan is a pretty neat atmosphere and has a lot of great restaurants, Mr. G's Pizza, Caffe Capri (amazing italian but sometimes long wait), Casa Rodriguez has great mexican food

You can find tailgating almost anywhere on gameday. People reserve spots the night before close to the field on a first come first served basis. There is also a great place for the kids usually in front of Kyle field with some activities and food and stuff like that.

Okay well that should be a good start, I don't live there anymore but one of my favorite things was all the great food. as you probably know, Aggies are big on their traditions, so I would recommend walking around campus and seeing some of the statues, reading the little plaques, and the bonfire memorial is pretty incredible for the history and has a special place in my heart for sure. Enjoy the trip.

If you're in Texas then I'd suggest some TexMex just like I would have some Cajun while in LA

Chuys, Lupe Tortilla, Fuegos & Los Cucos are my personal faves in CS & for the most "authentic" try Casa Rodriquez in downtown Bryan

For "quick" TexMex in CS go to Rosas Cafe (don't even glance at a Taco Bell or anywhere like that)

If you're near/staying in Houston then I HIGHLY suggest Pappasitos & their steak fajitas with pineapple butter on the side, this one is my número uno & pray every night before bed for the day we finally get one in B/CS
