My biggest areas of concern was the apparent inability of the DL to get to the UNT QB and the ineffectiveness of the OL at pass-blocking.
ALL SCHEDULES ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL
2013 BAMA GETS KY & TN; LSU GETS FL & GA. SEEMS FAIR (ROLLING EYES)
LSU = MOST SEC WINS SINCE 2010
I would have like to have seen a wide open passing attack. This would have show the country that we can throw the ball So You Can't Stack the Box On Us Any More. It was a warm up game bust it open.
I'm tiered of hearing we don't need to show everything. We have shown everything we had for the last 4 years.Lets say here's what we got stop us if you can.
Voorhies is solid to LSU. "He can almost hear the roar of Tiger Stadium if the wind is blowing just right from his back yard."
"It's short of larceny. It's surely not bigamy, but there is some lack of integrity that somebody can go in and bang on," Les Miles
I don't hate often, but when I do, I prefer Alabama, USC or Notre Dame.
Biggest thing to me was giving up a big play for a TD. The defense last year was pretty fantastic at not giving up big plays, especially ones that went for TDs. It's a little concerning we gave up a 70 something yard pass play to North Texas especially when our best safety was covering the guy and Loston kind of got caught up in a bad way too. I don't think we need to be manning up our safeties on slot WRs, go to nickel, go to dime if needed. Loston's and Reid's strength are being big hitters and cover 1 type of centerfield safeties.
I think most of the other "issues" are easily fixable...
1. The DL got some pressure on the QB but North Texas' passing scheme gets rid of the ball as quickly as possible
2. The 1 sustained TD drive is going to happen time to time, it was at the end of the game and we were playing many backups at that point
3. No passing down the field really I'm HOPING was just because of opponent and not because this is the offense we'll see for the next 11 games, we have a weapon at QB now, USE HIM
4. The OL having lapses in pass blocking, Hurst and Williford need to get it together...looks like they just need more film study and reps than anything
Those things are all fixable or depend upon opponent really. The big plays are something the coaches need to scheme better for, not put a safety on a fast slot WR...
