This one really is too close to call, but if I have to make a choice I'll give the nod to Sam by the slightest of margins. Just glad they're both on our side.
I would have to go with Mingo because of speed only. This is a very tight call but if I were looking for a pass rusher for my WDE position in the NFL then he would be my first choice.
Sam. He is the more complete player, also a vocal leader of the defense and a great advocate for LSU.
I'm on Sam's side as well. His play against the run puts him over for me. For a guy a little light in the pants, he holds up well at the point of attack.
I was going to say Sam because they are so close on the field but he has the extra leadership qualities. I did not realize Mingo won the Jimmy Taylor leadership award. That makes it an even tougher call.
Montgomery will likely have the bigger impact this year. (Though I'm still not completely sold on this as I think Mingo is going to have a huge year for us)
Mingo has the higher ceiling in the pros.
Nowhere in my contract does it say I gotta make a fool out of myself, am I right?
"Jazz isn't dead. It just smells funny." Frank Zappa
"They're on our left, they're on our right, they're in front of us, they're behind us....They can't get away this time." Chesty Puller
"I guess you've just gotta find something you love to do and then... do it for the rest of your life." - Max Fisher
Sam is more complete, mainly because he is quick ,strong and has weight to throw as well. For causing hell on wheels problems every other play, I'll take Mingo this year though. It has taken him the reps he has received over the last two years to come into his own. I think Mingo is going to be in every QB's ear-hole this year.
