darian claiborne

  • Just wondering what the thoughts / consensus was about him from you guys. We (huskers) are really high on him.

    WintersComing

  • I like him a lot, but he will be leaving the state bc we took 6 LBs last year. Your main competition would be A&M.

That's a huge lb haul last year... We really wanted Jones... He is going to be a playmaker for sure.

How would you rank him against the current lbers you have committed?

    WintersComing

  • Would like to see Claiborne end up at Nebraska, a&m will be tough competition though.

Jones has the best film of any LB LSU signed last year. His Sr film wasn't available on any of the recruiting sites or youtube, but is some of the best from anyone LSU signed last year. It would have been a big miss had LSU not offered him

  • I know A&M wants 4 LBs in this class and they have 2.

  • Thanks for the responses guys. I know Jones was flying under the radar last year, and husker fans were thrilled to get his commitment. I don't blame him one bit for choosing the home team though.

Is claiborne in that same "flying under the radar area"? Or do you guys have your eyes set on other targets? Are you only going to take 1-2 linebackers this year?

    WintersComing

  • We are taking 2 at the most. Melvin Jones for MLB and Kendall Beckwith for OLB. If we don't get them we will just use there spots for another position.

Lets just say I would rather Claiborne go to Nebraska then A&M because I don't want to have to play him.

  • I think Claiborne is a very good LB; and like some have stated above, we would probably take him any other year.

Jones went to my HS alma mater and I still have many friends who are involved with the football program, and I have seen many of their games... I like Jones the most out of any LB we have gotten in a few years! He is just a natural ballhawk takling machine lol! He may be a bit undersized for SEC LB, and that's my only real concern with him... but Chavis is famous for having undersized LB's, and I think he could even be moved to SS if he can't add anymore good weight. I think he will see the field on special teams this year.

Signed lavonte "to small to play linebacker" David. I think Jones will be a household name by the time his career is done.

Thanks for all the responses, and good luck this year.

If Tahj Jones can start for Chavis, Debeaux Jones won't have a problem. He may never be huge, but he'll be a great fit for Chavis' scheme. Instincts, athleticism and speed

Honestly priest is keeping pretty close to the vest, but I have heard we will be in it until the end. He grew up a husker fan, and was very excited about the offer. He has multiple connections to the program. I think most husker fans are cautiously optimistic with Willis. If he visits for an official we will feel good. I think it could come down to LSU and Nebraska. He likes usc too, but I don't know if they will wait on him.

For Nebraska though priest Willis could make this class. If we get both him and Cole Luke this will be Bo's best class in his time here.

  • We see what kind of premium Bo puts on Louisiana players because after he lost Raymond to us he went out and got Terry Joseph from Tennessee. I guess you guys know that he was born here and played in Louisiana. He also coached High School at Shaw and Destrehan which are very important schools for us.

Good luck on the season and remember:
    Bo knows football!!

You are right Daigle, it seems to me that much of the nation is starting to spend more and more time in the state as the secret is out, Louisiana High School Football is a hotbed for talent.

Louisiana has to be a Target recruiting area for us... It wasn't that long ago that Bo was a part of your staff. He knows the kind of talent that is down there, and his name still holds some value... Atleast with the defensive players.

I hope we continue to mine the leftovers from Louisiana, you guys let some very good players go every year, but I will say that you wrap up your home state as well as any team I have seen.

I really like this board by the way. This is my first time here, other than my welcome post, and I have to say you guys have been great. Have a good night.

More than that my brother, terry Joseph is Mickey Joseph's cousin and Mickey ran the wishbone for Nebraska and he beat an undefeated Kordell Stewart(marrero La) who played for Colorado in 1990?? Nebraska and Colorado used to raid our cupboard quite often back then.
Didnt Mickey Joseph get a 5th down vs Missouri that year? Memory is fading here and it is way past my bedtime... Good night braemmakers. Come back anytime.

  • I guess what surprises me most about these type of recruiting boards is the lack of historical perspective. Don't get me wrong, I am very interested in who my favorite team gets this year but most people do not know who played here 10 or even 5 years ago.

I guess there are people on here that do not remember Doug Flutie's pass to Phelan to beat Miami. Of course, that was a long time ago.
