LSU topped Oregon in the opener last season
It appears LSU's 2013 schedule will take one detour.
In a report published in the Dallas-Fort Worth Star Telegram, TCU will open the 2013 season against LSU in the Cowboys Stadium Classic, a source close to the negotiations said.
The two teams were originally scheduled to play in Tiger Stadium on Sept. 7, the start of a home and home series in 2013 and 2014. The new deal would eliminate the second meeting.
Scott Rabalais of The Advocate reported on Friday evening that the deal was not yet finalized, but confirmed with Verge Ausberry, LSU senior associate athletic director in charge of football scheduling, that the game would replace a home-and-home scheduled between the Tigers and Horned Frogs.
Ausberry told The Advocate that LSU will still have seven home games in 2013, and the Tigers will either bring in another non-conference opponent or the Southeastern Conference will go to a nine-game schedule. If the latter occurs, LSU could have five SEC home games.
